Crazy. I’m honestly kind of relieved. So he’s not actually bad lol it’s truly just an injury

We knew he was blind by watching those ABs.

Yikes. Not going to joke about that. Pray the surgery goes well.

Wow.

Gotta find an OF now. Any chance Harris makes the jump?

That’s a good way to ruin his development. He’s not ready.

Think they push up Acunas timeframe

If Waters wasn’t hurt, this would be his time. You don’t want to rush Acuna’s rehab time and Harris likely isn’t ready yet. Right off the top of my head, I’m not sure who might get the call. Only thing I can think is the time Contreras has had playing outfield.

Yeah - I was trying to be funny about who we should get to replace the non contribution of Rosario. Too late and too exhausted from work to even make sense. I apologize

Probably. Sunday's radio broadcast talked about Harris getting a shot this year for a while, so it made me wonder if it's being talked about

Really no reason to keep Acuna down. Give the kid a chance.

We might be seeing our future catcher in RF sooner than later.

While the bat probably isn't gonna help right away, Justin Dean would provide pretty great defense and some slick base running.

We could always call J Up to the rescue 🤣

What type of eye procedure takes 3-4 months of recovery? I’m no eye doctor, but that seems very serious and potentially career ending.

Odd to me too. The eye heals rapidly.

Hah… I hope so. Imagine thinking a dude’s ready who has had all of 66 plate appearances and one homer at AA. Not to mention a .400+ BABIP and who’s had a batted ball profile of hitting more ground balls than fly balls… but sure… lol

Swelling PLUS the blurred vision certainly makes it appear to be pretty serious. If the swelling is placing excess pressure around the nerve endings and that's what's actually causing the blurring, it would seem like something that's terribly complex and is going to take quite a bit of time and extended care - particularly if the swelling is so random that it wasn't caused by some sort of blow to the area.

I had a sinus issue years ago when I was in college that caused some swelling, blurred vision, lost sleep, and migraines, and the eye doctor treating me stated he had concerns it could easily lead to permanent loss of sight in my right eye. He was a golfing buddy and good friend who had a rosier opinion of how far my golf "career" might advance so he was probably a bit more alarmed than others might have been, but he still says to this day that it was a much more serious situation than I ever made it out to be. I avoided surgery, but spent three months without being able to step outside without sunglasses (even on cloudy days), had to wear them inside when in class, and had to only light our dorm room with 40 watt lamps because they were concerned that any extended period where I was exposed to brighter light would make the situation much worse. Unlike regular physical activities, you can't "throttle back" the effort your eyes put forth, and any periods spent squinting caused the swelling to return and/or worsen.

Hate to say it, but it would be a reasonable move considering you are getting him at the minimum and that amount is prorated. But he would take several weeks down in Gwinnett to be ready.

Why? He's already had a full spring training and I would presume has stayed active in case he gets a call.

Btw, he's struck out 7 of the 8 batters he's faced in AAA this year. Throws 96-99 with his fastball and occasionally hits 100.

Taking Rosario's spot on the roster or someone else going down?

I suppose ozuna will be playing defense vs rhp so Dickerson can replace ozuna in lineup

I’d give J Up a look. He won’t help the defense but he could help the lineup.

If it was a few days, I could see a quick cup of coffee for Harris, but not for a few months. Honestly, I have liked Demeritte out there better than some other options lately.

My wife who is an eye surgeon speculates "central serious retinopathy" or, if he is a diabetic... "diabetic macular edema"

and I don't know what either of those things mean

I can't believe this guy got a two year deal when Joc did not.

I will love him forever for last year's performance. And even with no eyes he can hit vs the Dodgers, that is great. Still can't believe he got a two year deal.

Probably was the reason he started off so bad. Could be a good boost when he comes back. I doubt he could judge a fly ball very well too.

I would wager they don’t just happen spontaneously, no. Could have easily been an issue for weeks but just got emergency level bad recently
