Simply put I randomly think of stuff and have discussions with folks and figued it would be fun to do it here.
The debate I've been having lately is what is the quintessential American food. Many foods we have are just transplants of foreign cuisine. Some are rifts on foreign cuisines.
To me there are a handful of truly great american food items, to list a few iconic ones that are certainly americans, cheeseburger, fries, hot dogs, cheese steak, nachos, po boys, lobster rolls, buffalo wings, and of course Apple Pie.
I think depending on where you're from you'll have a different opinion, but I'm personally the believer in the burger. The burger can go from as cheap and ****ty as a mcdonalds burger to being an expensive entree. Not to mention it's maybe the best american food to add other american foods like fries, mac and cheese, chips, etc. to and make even more American.
