Wade Boggs is being inducted into the Rays HOF for his great career in Tampa.

This is silly but also iirc it was a pretty big deal for the Rays when he signed there.

Shouldn’t they do this in front of a Rays crowd not a Braves crowd.

Wait…his number has been retired there forever. How is he not already in the HoF?

Zero reason for that ball to get by Riley.

If not for this joke of a park and our miserable luck, we'd probably have outscored the Rays by 20+ this series.

Right. He wants to get greedy by playing all of the starters today, but then doesn’t seem to care about a W when it comes to the pitching staff.

I kid. I personally can’t and won’t complain one bit!

Said before, the DH really masks his weaknesses. Prevents him from doing the stupid unnecessary bunting and we know he loves those double switches.

It helps that AA has built almost a snitproof team.

Snit surely has leadership qualities and the boys love him for that. But tactically there is still a lot to be desired.

I'll take a person with good managerial skills over a bench strategist any day.

I'm also not sold on the idea that Snit makes tons of in game mistakes. I think it's more likely that a lot of the "mistakes" are more decisions based on things we don't know. That could be minor injuries, a scouting report, or some advanced metrics AAs guys cooked up.

The days of a single grizzled man making all the calls are over. There's a team of people watching every pitch and helping with every decision.

Bryce Elder, who struggled against the Rays in the first-half finale, won’t start again until at least Tuesday.
We were guessing that Elder would start Sunday, but the Braves announced that Charlie Morton, Spencer Strider and Kolby Allard would face the White Sox this weekend. They also have Monday off, so it looks like Elder will make his next start on eight days’ rest Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Max Fried (forearm) will make his second rehab start on Saturday in High-A.
Despite making his first rehab start at the Triple-A level, Fried will reportedly pitch for High-A Rome in order to pitch closer to home. Fried was limited to just 35 pitches in his first rehab start, allowing one hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings. He came out of the start feeling good and should be able to throw around 50 pitches in this start. With Atlanta comfortably in first place in the NL East, there is no need to rush Fried back, so we should expect them to be cautious with their former ace. Another two or three rehab starts could be in the cards depending on how Fried responds on Saturday, but he appears to be on track for an August return to the rotation.

Yikes. This is disappointing.

He was incredible the beginning of the year and it did seem like he was getting less swing and miss the last few weeks. Poor guy can’t seem to catch a break.

Kinda odd that Snit basically didn't use him for a week then kept using him.

bravesfanMatt

I have always hated the strategy of one inning reliever every night. I think it is better on a guy to come in and throw 3 innings every 3 days versus 1 inning 2-3 days in a row and then one day off. The warming up and everything is just as stressful on the body as actually pitching..This old school thought that relievers have roles is so dumb. If a guy is pitching well, then don't take him out because it is the 9th inning.

Shoulder strain for Anderson. Going to the 60 day DL so quick with a shoulder injury doesn't look great.

He'll be back for September if all goes well but we know what AA's gonna be shopping for at the deadline now. We still have options but it's risky down there.

Is he hurt, or are they just shutting him down before the playoffs/stretch run to keep him fresh? Same with Dylan Lee lol.

Obviously had time to get all of the imaging and tests done during the break with no media attention. So agreed, going straight to a 60 day IL stint is not ideal. Bullpen was already a need, but is a must now at the deadline.

There’s a clear need in the bullpen and AA will wheel and deal. I’m not worried about that
