I missed the game yesterday. Did anyone see how Pastornicky looked in the field?

Thanks,
John

He looked very much like NotSimmons

It's very noticeable when Simmons is not starting. I'll just leave it at that.

He looked like a 2nd baseman playing SS

Decent fielder, but looked to have very little range. There were quite a few balls that got by him that Simmons either gets, or at least has a pretty decent shot of getting to.

So ... less a butcher than in the past? Worth keeping as a bench bat and spot starter?

And thanks, by the way.

This, but I like him as a second baseman. He's just a really bad shortstop (lacks both the arm and range for it). Plus having bad defenders at second and third makes Pastornicky even less an option at short.

Wish we could see a few more starts there. I was mostly wondering if he is a viable bench alternative to Janish because of the bat.

we should really never start Pastor, Uggs, and CJ and expect to win.

Exactly.

I think he definitely can fit as a utility player, but only as a sport starter at SS. If Simmons goes on the DL then they'll need someone better to fill in.

And have Huddy pitching.

or anyone pitching, because that's cruel and unusual punishment. What did a pitcher do to deserve that, Fredi? **** in your hat?

All those years with Sunday lineups or getaway game lineups from Bobby with 4/5 of the starters on the bench. If Bobby had enough guys on the bench to start over all 8 position players, you best believe he would do it.
