If Simmons walked more (at all) he would be the ideal #2 hitter right now. Even with his hot start with the bat he only has a 298 OBP on the year. That's pathetic for a guy hitting 289.

A bit more plate discipline would help too, like Andrelton swinging at the first freakin pitch instead of trying to let the pitcher get into trouble.

I'm ok with Simmons. He should be allowed to grow in a lineup and not be asked to be a focal point. Its guys like Beej/Uggla/Heyward (lesser degree) that are killing us.

I say July, thethe, because it's going to be a tough decision for the Braves because it's going to mean they will cut ties with Uggla and that's a bunch of money, so it's not a decision they will make hastily for that reason.

And? How many more runs do you think the Braves would give up if they played it straight up all the time?

The shift seems to have cost them more this year than saved.

How

How? When you leave 0-2 fastballs waist high and hittable you pay for that In professional ball. Being overly aggressive when your stuff really isn't all that.

Here is another Fredi fail.

It's clear to everyone (including Fredi) that Walden is our best non-Kimbrel pitcher. But since it's not the 8th inning, Fredi refuses to use him. Even though we're talking about 3-4-5 for Miami and literally the game on the line

He is such a bad in-game manager. I am at the point where I don't even care. He is going to make bad in-game decisions on a regular basis for years to come. Just have to get used to it.

Embarrassing. ..lol we get swept by the Marlins what a effing joke. We all knew that the issues with the lack of hitting would catch up to us because there was no way the starting pitching was going to continue giving up less than 2 runs per game. No May flowers for us because unless a miracle happens with this offense we maybe in for a long summer.

This team has some serious issues that are finally coming full circle and were masked early on by superb pitching.

But hey, I was just being negative, right?

Terrible offense
Terrible defense at key positions
Unreliable bullpen
Terrible in game manager

The only way we will consistently win series if our starting pitching is unreal and going deep into games because this offense wouldn't be able to muster runs in a game started by Shane Reynolds and closed out by Dan Kolb.

Fredi simply out managed tonight.

When the game was on the line for us, he chose to go to Carp instead of Walden or Kimbrel because he manages by old-school nonsense.

When the game was on the line for Miami, they brought in their best pitcher in the highest leverage situation in the game.

We gave up two runs. They gave up zero.
