I ask this nicely. Are you guys morons?
Evan can barely walk after games. Get used to it.
He will play tomorrow, and probably have Sunday off too.
He is not an every day catcher. That's why we have three.
Get the hell over it already.
Now, let's go Bravos!!!!

Fredi's seen Lincecum's ERA the past couple seasons and couldn't resist getting in there to take some hacks at him.

I understand the need for giving catchers days off, but we just got our asses handed to us and he's one of our hottest hitters. It's also May. It's not moronic to question why he can't come back tonight.

FUGLY lineup, then again, no matter who we run out there our lineup is not pretty. No reason Gattis should be sitting, though.

nsacpi
05-02-2014, 03:36 PM
Lincecum's splits are neutral. Pena is two for six against him and Pastornicky has not had an at bat against him.

The significant development is the benching of Uggla. It is a good move considering his struggles this year and the fact he has zero hits off Lincecum in 15 at bats.

Uggla also has a very poor record against Bumgarner. It would make sense to start Pastornicky in that game.

nsacpi
05-02-2014, 03:37 PM
I would have played Gattis tonight. Rested him tomorrow. Then bring him back for the day game on Sunday.

I wonder who is going to catch Sunday. So far Fredi has not used Gattis on a day game after a night game.

It would make sense to go with a platoon of Pena and Tyler from here on out, until half the board's lover boy Stella gets the call.

And? Do you want to run Laird/Doumit out there everyday in Sept because Gattis is done and sucking it up? Gattis will be kept fresh all year otherwise he will not be nearly as effective as he is.

I came up with a brilliant idea today all of my own volition. For the first time ever I am going to give YOU the fans input into how I manage the game. Some quick rules.

1- Uggla's already on the bench, so dont even start that **** about taking him out early.

2- Not using Kimbrel for 2 innings. I don't care if its game 7 of the world series and if we lose terrorists nuke the stadium. Not gonna happen.

3- Gattis took himself out of the lineup. Think he said something about not loving baseball enough to play.

4. I am not pinch hitting/running at random times.

5. Everytime you suggest something stupid like Varavro playing cf I am going to make Avilan start throwing in the pen.

Just taking a moment to appreciate the fact that Gattis is well within the top 5 catchers (maybe 2, edged by Posey) in MLB at the moment. The Braves need him in the lineup as often as possible.

Always like Hudson.

Mark Bowman ‏@mlbbowman 6m

Huddy said, "When I retire, I'll probably be up there in those stands pulling for the Braves just like I did when I was a kid."

Hudson: "I can't say I don't still pull for (the Braves) because I do, just not this weekend. I hope they go into a mini slump."

Fredi on Gattis not in tonight's lineup: "We need to get our bench at bats sometime. Gerald's the best backup catcher in baseball, he could start everyday for any other team out there. We're fortunate to have him, he's a great player."

Fredi on Uggla getting a rest: "Again, we need to get bench players some at bats, Pena is great. I wanna save Uggla so he starts 150 games this year, it's a long season and it wears on you, mentally and physically, and we know what we got there. Going forward, he will be in the lineup"

Those last two fastballs were both 91 mph to Crawford.

I know people have given Walker/Fletcher crap, and Idk how much merit that has, but this team has no fundamental recognition of the strike zone. Constantly late or missing very hittable pitches as well. Just some overall putrid at bats.

Our walk rate as a team has plummeted in the last few years but I don't really blame the hitting coaches with that. We have essentially replaced Chipper, Mac. and Escobar with Johnson, Gattis, and Simmons. While those 3 aren't bad hitters they take very few walks and are hackers. And when they aren't getting hits it can be tough to swallow.

somebody can bunt. Walk Pagan, pitch to Pence.

05-02-2014, 08:32 PM
Fredi never lets Thomas finish anything, all the runs charged against him others have came in and gave up. Bringing Carpenter or Varvaro with runners on is asking for it. They are the type that cannot have a clean inning even at their best.

Also Thomas is better against righties than Varvaro is against lefties. Would have left him in against Pagan.

Thomas might be pitching himself off the team, they have to make room for Floyd this weekend and Thomas might be the move. And oh by the way, Washington just went up on Philly, so the Braves might be down to a half game after tonight, losing three games off their lead in four days. Nice going.

I'm thinking that a lefty out of the pen is gonna be the first move Wren makes. Then, if we're still pertinent by the break, 2B.

Braves1976
05-02-2014, 08:44 PM
Thomas is likely safe as we need a second lefty, esp. with Avilan's struggles. Plus all the runs charged to Thomas have came with him being removed and someone else giving them up (two last night by Carpenter). Before last night he had great numbers too, just hasn't been pitching enough nor full innings so smaller sample size.

Yeah, but that could be subject to change, they've got to have a reliable lefty and right now they don't have one, because Avilan is struggling as well. That's why I'm thinking that there may be an outside move for one. Wood is looking too good to just yank him out of the rotation (with one game exception). Course I was wrong once before, back in '54...
