Why? The pitchers hit just as good as the regular hitters. Meaning, they all suck so it really doesn't matter.

I hate that we have to put Justin at 2nd because he has cleanup hitter potential.. or at least should be hitting 3rd with Freddie cleanup.

Hopefully if LaStella comes up soon he can hit leadoff and Heyward to 3rd Justin to 2 or vice versa.

I'd be ok with either Heyward/Justin/Freddie hitting 3rd.

I think only a professional psychoanalyst could understand this. Fredi has to go through these contortions to somehow limit the psychological impact on Uggla. I always found it curious he wouldn't hit Uggla 8th. So now he his leaving him out of the lineup, but batting his replacement ninth. Maybe it does make Uggla feel better. But to me it just seems weird. Pendleton for manager.

Drink when any of our 3-4-5 hitters K.

Drink when Gattis swings at a pitch outside the zone.

Two drinks when Tron swings at the first pitch.

Two drinks when a brave makes an out with RISP.

Two drinks when Jason hits into a 4-3.

Two drinks when Chip makes a play on words.

Two drinks if Chip refers to Harang's height or girth.

Finish your drink if Joe Simpson talks about somebody keeping their hands inside the baseball.

Finish your drink when the Braves fail to get a bunt down.

Chug an entire beer when the Braves hit a lead off double, followed by a K, then a fly out to advance the runner to 3B, then a grounder to the right side for the 3rd out...thus scoring zero runs due to terrible sequencing, and ushering in calls for playing small ball.

Actually, according to "The Book", it is worth about 2 runs per season to have your pitcher batting 8th because the 9th place hitter will be getting on for the top of the lineup. Now that JUp is hitting 2nd, the current lineup is pretty much optimized (Freddie should be hitting 4th with BJ hitting 3rd though - the order of importance of out avoidance is #1, #4, #2, #5, #3, #6, #7, #8, #9).

Since Pena and Pastor are leadoff-type hitters, but not actually good enough to hit leadoff, batting them 9th in front of Heyward/JUp/Freeman is a good idea. Additionally, the pitcher will likely be PH for by his 3rd or 4th AB, so the poor hitting pitchers won't really be taking many ABs away from position/bench players over the course of the season. Each lineup position is worth about 17 additional ABs per year, and since the pitcher will be PH for approximately 25% of the time, the offense is only giving the pitcher an extra ~12-13 ABs per season.

Here is a pretty good explanation:

A pitcher that can bunt, which none of our pitchers or regulars can and executes a perfect bunt.

A slap hitter that knows how to tighten zone and not over swing and hustles, a double, scores two.

A recurring theme.

And most likely we will lose.

Game over. This team sucks right now. Even Simbas D is failing.

Whatever personal issue Simmons is having seems to be affecting. I've never seen him this way defensively. And yes, he's lucky he doesn't have two errors charged to him.

A pitcher that can bunt, which none of our pitchers or regulars can and executes a perfect bunt.

A slap hitter that knows how to tighten zone and not over swing and hustles, a double, scores two.

A recurring theme.

And most likely we will lose.

And bad defense to start everything

I played on the same team with Terry Shumpert and Steve Finley in what you call AAU ball today vs the early 80's version.
