Very warm for San Fran today, should be a good night for the bats. Keep em in the park, Mike.

Can we finally start hitting? Vogelsong's a pretty average pitcher who doesn't strike a lot of guys out. I'd say tonight we break out but we should have done that already.

Really hope Pastor takes the opportunity and grabs it. It's now or never for him, if he fails TLS will be up in early June.

:eusa_dance:

I think the benching of Uggla means the Braves must have finally come to the conclusion they have to get rid of him, how and when is now the question, but my guess is by June 1st Uggla will be gone and if Pastornicky can't get the job done we'll see LaStella. I also would like to see either Pastornicky or Simmons leading off and Jason Heyward moving down in the lineup. I think he would relax more.

The Chosen One
05-13-2014, 07:39 PM
Pena's D is way more shoddy than Pastor at 2nd.

Looks like it's Pastor's to lose. Uggla is essentially out and TLS will be given a chance if Pastor fails... then looks like a TLS Pastor platoon perhaps.

Why does Mike Minor pitch up so much? He obviously does it on purpose. I was always taught to work down; and if I go up, go way up. He seems to be in no mans land when he gets hurt.

GovClintonTyree
05-13-2014, 09:35 PM
That spike curve is the pitch of the decade. I read an interview with Alex Wood and tried it with Lil Guv, who learned it in five minutes. Struck two guys out with it last night. It's easy to throw and easy on the arm. It's a little shorter than a real Koufax/Kershaw one, but harder to recognize.

I don't think its fair to include players like McCann that haven't done it over a full season yet. I think Granderson is gonna go BJ on the mets. It will probably get half the people AT&T Park does too.

how much you want to bet that we average more than 20k a game in a new park that is closer to more season ticket holders now?

I know BJ strikes out WAYY too much, but on two of his strikeouts tonight, the 3rd strike was clearly outside according to Fox Trax. It seems like at least once per game, BJ gets out on a called 3rd strike that was not a strike.

I would be interested to see a leaderboard on called strikeouts that ended with a called strike outside the zone...trying to find a way to defend BJ. Any takers?

By the way, this west coast trip is always hard on me. I live in Arkansas and have to get up at 510 to drive a school bus before teaching history all day. Is it possible to slur your writing??? :)

And according to that sports site we are averaging 27K this season.

what?

you said

It will probably get half the people AT&T Park does too.

the Giants average: 41,884 this year

around that the year before etc

so, you are saying the Braves will be lucky to get 20.5k a game

we already average more than that now

so, again

how much would you like to bet that it is more than "It will probably get half the people AT&T Park does"

yep

and once summer hits, we will bump up more around the 30k area for the year.

still, more than the 20.5k you think a new park being built in the heart of season ticket holders that already go to games on the other side of town and a pain in the ass to get to

37K a game is a tall task.

Yeah but new stadiums bring the people. And moving it to where most of your ticket holders are will only increase that. The Twins went from 2.4 million to 3.2 million when they moved to a new stadium and they were division winners each of those years.

Great game by Minor tonight, good to see him back on top of his game again. Great game by Gattis again, it's time we start giving him more credit IMO. He leads all MLB catchers in homers and had another big extra base hit tonight (a triple). He also should've walked twice (that strike three call his last AB was the same pitch that was a ball the pitch before). So he is showing some patience at the plate too.

BJ got cheated on some bad strike three calls again tonight. One of them was a really terrible call too. He's having a good series though and that's good to see.

That said, our third base coach made two bad calls but both worked out for us tonight. First he sends Heyward and Heyward should be out by a mile but somehow gets around the tag (great job by Heyward). Then he doesn't send a fast Pastornicky when he'd scored easy. But is bailed out when the Giants failed to turn the DP on Freeman. While both worked out in our favor that was still a poor job by our third base coach. You should know your base runners and he's been bad in that area. He sends slow runners like Freeman from first or CJ on close plays but stops Pastornicky? Maybe he was gun shy after the Heyward play but still not impressed by him so far.

I feel like when this board is in full swing, it's like a good episode of MST3K

I feel like there should be a video of myself, Julio, Dylan and Cy watching the game. Hopefully with premade meme cards.

Geez, if Gattis can start taking that outside fastball to right center consistently then he is going to be incredible. He smoked that ball.

The activity of the board is down because of the NBA/NHL playoffs and the teams general poor play. It will come back up soon enough.

Good and winning seasons aren't always the same thing.

If you are over .500 chances are yoi are in the playoff race down to the last week or two. Especially now that there are 2 wildcard teams.

While that may be true I don't consider a team good unless they win 90+ games.

But you were talking about attendance. If a team wins 85 games then the season is 90% over before you know they wont win 90.

they could always be a medicore team with a strong finish. what i meant to say is if the team is in first or in strong contention for it all year. which i have no doubt will happen. the braves are very well ran and contend pretty much every year.
