I guess Heyward has "proven" he can't hit Bumgarner. I'd like to grab Doumit and move him to LF however. Doumit in that gigantic RF is going to cost us.

Hawk

I know it sounds completely counter-intuitive given the teams current 2B situation, but I can't help but wonder if the Braves are showcasing Pastornicky.

Millwood1Hitter
05-14-2014, 02:07 PM
Fredi on Doumit in RF: "I wanna see what he's got. My baseball prospectus said he is a horrible defender all the way around, I don't believe that, he has to be good at something. Maybe it's RF?"

stpeteirish
05-14-2014, 02:52 PM
that's the way to start a game. Been a long time since we scored in the first inning.

tomahawkchop10
05-14-2014, 02:52 PM
Ya why not put JUP in RF? Especially considering he's played it many times before with the dbacks.

Crooked numbas!

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 02:54 PM
Who would of thought that the team would hit a little more once the lineup was constructed more logically? Man. Good start boys!

tomahawkchop10

Man I turn the game on 5 mins late and I've already missed more runs than I saw the first whole week of may!! Lol

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 02:55 PM
Upton took the K there, but his eye has been so much better. He's working 3-2 counts at least two times a game now it seems.

05-14-2014, 02:56 PM
Need to play Pastor everyday.

USMA76
05-14-2014, 02:56 PM
I'm not defending BJ as he's brought a lot of his troubles on himself but there have been at least three times in the past two games when he's been called out on third strike pitches that appeared to be distinctly outside.

cajunrevenge
05-14-2014, 03:03 PM
I know Blanco wasn't liked much on scout but I wish we kept him. Good 4th outfielder.

2-2. Wow Julio. I did not see that coming at all.

I agree with Chip and Joe, that high FB call has been KILLING us this year.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:05 PM
Julio is not locating at all right now, he's throwing them some crap. Good thing it's early; he'll be fine.

UNCBlue012

After finally getting early runs, it's pretty disheartening to see our Ace do this. Now we've got to work our asses off to get the lead again.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:19 PM
Julio looks overly tired and he just walked bases loaded to the pitcher. Man, what in the world is going on with him.

I would be completely happy with that. Julio just doesn't look good at all. He may be fine next inning if he's good to go, who knows... but man. With of these surgeries, I'm always worried. I think he's fine, but man.

UNCBlue012

mlbbowman: Teheran is fighting something (possibly a blister. But during a brief visit, he convinced Fredi he could continue

USMA76
05-14-2014, 03:22 PM
Don't know if I've ever seen anyone throw 41 pitches in the first inning.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:23 PM
K's Bumgarner. Man, I'm glad he did but 41 pitches is amazing. He won't go more than 5 today if he's insanely lucky. I say we need to put Alex in and let Julio relax.

CrimsonCowboy
05-14-2014, 03:23 PM
Madison Bumgarner and Julio Teheran allow a combined five runs in the first inning. Yeah, we saw that coming

stpeteirish
05-14-2014, 03:25 PM
Nice to have Wood in the pen on a day like today. Even if he settles down he's not long for this one, 41 pitches in the first.

CrimsonCowboy
05-14-2014, 03:25 PM
Good camera work by the SportSouth guys. Showed Julio looking at his right hand. Could have a blister developing, but that's just a guess on my part.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:31 PM
That's 36 pitches through two for Bumgarner. Neither guy is exactly lighting it up.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:35 PM
Alright, another walk. Take Julio out. I love the guy, but he's just not on it. Alex Wood would be completely fine to put in here.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:40 PM
Wow... 4-2 off of a steal of third and an error to third base. How stupid. That's still why you DONT walk people or you just go ahead and put Wood in.

How do walk a guy batting .122 in his first two at bats of the game.

UNCBlue012
05-14-2014, 03:45 PM
I can't be mad at Julio, he has an awful game going for him. That happens, completely. Especially if he's hurt.

Someone needs to beat the crap out of Fredi though. I don't understand how the man year in and year out does this to hurt the team.

If Fredi isn't dumb, it's 2-2 still and fine. 4-2 is a lot with a struggling offense.

50PoundHead
05-14-2014, 03:46 PM

Exactly how this man kept his job after leaving CK im the bullpen last year is beyond explanation. I have a theory that it the reason people like Mike Smith and Gonzalez keep their jobs is because there isnt enough media/fan questioning of them. Any other city and both of them would have been fired long ago.

Might be the best swing I've seen from Dan since Philly.

1-2 pitch and Simmons' head is in the Giants duggout on that swing. He's gotta lot to learn boy.

One pitch out from Uggla. At least he made contact, so there's that.

Wow Chip, talking about a high joyride. With the cool air I hope you had pants on.

I'm sorry but I still don't see how anyone can stand up for Fredi.

It was obvious that JT has having issues and didn't have his A game, and should have been pulled earlier especially considering the fact who was the opposing pitcher and our offense. And it's even dumber when you consider we have two quality guys that can pitch multiple innings in Wood and Hale, and another in Varvaro. You don't waste Tehran like that, and you got to give your team a good chance to win.

And he needs to stand up for our players, we've been screwed by the umps a number of times this season, and especially this series, and BJ and Fredi does absolutely nothing. He doesn't need to be Cox, but for crying out loud, show some emotion, stand up for your team and your players, by goodness, it seems like the umps and MLB can do whatever they want to screw us and he doesn't have the backbone to try to stand up to it. Does it change the call, probably not.

That's overrated. Never worked for Lou Piniella, never worked for Bowa, never worked for McClendon, etc.

I think the players respect Fredi, know how much he cares. Don't compare him to Bobby because their personalities aren't the same, managing style might be similar.

Excactly. Torre in NY wasn't a hot head nor Francona or Bochy... Scioscia also. Fredi doesn't need to do that. Would make the umps hate us more.

No matter what Fredi does it won't be good enough. We are in first just working thru a dry spell. Amazes me how people are signaling the end of civilization when things aren't perfect.

I don't care who makes the gdt, tbh... as long as it's done properly with lineups and pitching probables, and dated correctly.
