That really sucks. He'll still get to go and enjoy the festivities, but you know he really wanted to play.

Bochy said he'll probably cover himself with a 3rd C to replace Freeman. He hasn't forgotten McCann gave SF home field in 2010 WS, hint hint

Would love to see Mac take Freeman's place. He certainly deserves an all-star selection.

Yup, certainly more deserving than Wonderdouche.

McCann's selection is his 7th in 9 seasons. Pretty damn impressive. Chipper was selected just 8 times in his entire career.

Chipper was unfortunate to play with a pretty great crop of 3B in his time, Rolen, Wright, for a few years Zimmerman (2 really), Ramirez, Lowell had some great years, etc. And generally they carry 2 or 1 3B so Chipper wouldn't get voted in he didn't have much shot.

Chipper went in 2001 and then didn't go back until 2008. I know a couple of those years he played the OF because of Vinny Castilla but that's still a long time to go between ASG appearances. But I doubt it's close to a record.

Using the standard measuring stick for the ASG, first half performance (wish you could sort but first 2 months since that seems a better indicator)

2002 - He was borderline for the OF, 2003 he was probably a no for the OF, 2004 wasn't qualified in PA, even if he was ROlen and Beltre clearly earned it, 05 didn't qualify, 06 he was clearly bested by Rolen, Wright, Miggy, and Sanchez, 07 he should have made it as the backup to Wright.

Tough luck on the ASG for FF, but he made it and that's all that matters.

Him being injured is a major concern for the Braves. I hope it isn't serious. Hand and wrist injuries tend to linger, as we all know.

Sucks but he will make more. Good to see Mac get back in there. He's been a beast this year, just like pretty much every year.

Yeah, silver lining for sure. Mac is a monster.
