Mychal Jones is finally turning into the exciting prospect many predicted he'd become. Last night in the only game in the Braves' system, he picks up four hits and steal two bases. he's currently hitting .342 and batting leadoff with confidence.

In the 11th inning Thursday, he singled, stole second, stole third and came home on a Cedric Hunter hit.

Jones is smoking. Maybe the light bulb has gone on for him. Has some nice tools.

Cedric Hunter is an interesting player. Seems to have topped out as a AA player. 3rd round draft pick coming out of high school. #95 ranked prospect by Baseball Prospectus coming into the 2007 season.

Don't know the whole story on him, but he was fast-tracked by the Padres (AA by age 21) and I sometimes think it's wise to err on the side of caution with prospects, especially those who are young for classification.

Kuzitza quietly having a solid year. i wonder if he is the heir apparent to CJ #2.

I still don't like his power/K ratio and for a supposedly solid fielder, he makes a ton of errors. I think he's in the mix for something, but I don't know if he's a long term big league regular. Things could change. Contact rate has gotten better and power often develops later. He's played some 1B and some OF. LHH, so he may project as a utility guy if he can play something other than 3B.

If I were a betting man, my money would be on Caratini to be that guy.

Really sucks that we couldn't turn him into a LF somehow.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. We'll see what Tanner Murphy does in Danville and who they draft. They signed Bello as well, so it's not like Caratini has to stay behind the dish. My guess is they view Caratini as a bat who will play a position to be determined.
