Ryan talked about it too. Basically his idea was that somedays you didn't have a pitch working, and you hoped it wasn't your fastball, and you hoped your other pitches worked. SO if his change was junk, then he'd hope his curve was on top. Otherwise it was gonna be a rough day.

CJ has never really had good pitch recognition. He had a career year last year. If he isn't blooping singles or getting seeing eyed singles he's not getting on base.
