Damn Cat Stevens is incredible. Still sounds exactly the same as he did 50 years ago. Greatest American singer/songwriter next to Brian Wilson.

I think Bob Dylan still sounds the same as well. You couldn't understand a damn thing he said 50 years ago and you still can't. :icon_biggrin:

Brian Wilson? Who the hell is that?

Wait, this guy?
And didn't Cat Stevens change his name? Hell, if my name was "Cat" I'd change it too, or I'd just change my cat's name to "Human".

"God only knows how much I love me"
Dylan is the best, in my book.

My thing about Dylan is I think he likes jim Morrison. More of a poet that puts poetry on top of music than a 'singer-songwriter'

He's got some good tunes but Dylan has at least 30 better than Cat Stevens' best.
Gordon Lightfoot > Cat Stevens
Gordon Lightfoot > Cat Stevens
Since you went Canadian, let me throw out another name: Stan Rogers.

Thanks. I'd never heard of him before.
Love Dylan's songwiting. Cannot stand to hear him sing.

Can appreciate their talents, just not my cup of tea. Just can't listen to much of either.

I actually really like his singing, but I like idiosyncratic voices when it comes to music (and writing, too, I guess).

Cat Stevens isn't American.

I could make the argument that Dylan is the greatest singer of all-time. He's certainly the best songwriter.

I could make an argument that **** is an enjoyable smell, but that doesn't mean it smells like a rose

Does all time mean 20th century western civilization?

I guess you think that all of your art should be pretty and "smell like a rose," as you say.

No. As someone who's music list is heavily populated with Rush, Pearl Jam, the Boss, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Alice in Chains, Jimi Hendrix, etc. I don't personally buy into the need to sing great. That being said, I would never argue that any of them are the best singer ever. Except Geddy Lee. All hail Geddy Lee.
