Yeah. This game screams for some veteran leadership.

Expecting a huge but inconsistent performance from Heyward.

Minor goes yard. That's my wrong prediction for the game.

Minor is also inconsistent. Sometimes he gets hitters out sometimes he doesn't. Weird the way all our pitchers are like that.

Our hitters too. Sometimes they get a hit and sometimes they don't. Why do they have to be inconsistent like that?

Our whole team is like that actually. Sometimes they win. Sometimes they lose. How come they can't just win or lose all the time.

This inconsistency makes being a fan sooo stressssssful. I can't take it.

I miss Julio's GDT already. That was the worst part of the Braves loss last night.

I'm really happy that Gattis is in there, he's been too valuable lately to take out in my opinion. Something has to change today with the pitching. I expect consistency, because I was absolutely livid after last night.

On the good note, Tommy LaStella continues to miss almost nothing and impress with the leather. I'm loving having him up more and more every game!

Yeah, Gattis goes through these incredible power streaks and you have to ride them until they are over. He looks locked in right now and is even starting to watch borderline pitches.

nsacpi
06-04-2014, 09:58 AM
Gattis is not bad for being one-dimensional.

But he is inconsistent too. He is just setting us up for disappointment for next time he chokes in a key situation. There is a conspiracy on the part of this team to drive their fans crazy. And it seems to be working!

In a 5 day week Gattis should start every game. I'll be at the az games sat sun so I hope he plays then, but I'm sure he'll get sun off. Need a win today. Yesterday reminded me of the Boston series and we need to avoid another losing streak.

Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. They are inconsistent at beating themselves, as well getting beat by the opponent, as well as beating the opponent.

Freddie is making me pretty mad lately. .215 over the last week, swinging at bad pitches, late on fastballs down the middle. I don't want to be that guy, but are his eyes okay? Or just a quick little slump?

Who should Fredi go to in the 8th? Lefty, righty, lefty due up. Avilan pitched last night.

I would go with Carpenter.

We are down a run. This is a high leverage situation.

Avilan gives up a triple to the righty. And a single to the second lefty.

Now Simmons in to face a righty. Next two are righties.

I know two of the first three this inning were lefty hitters. Still with guys like Carpenter and Simmons fresh, why not bring them in instead of Avilan who worked last night.

CJ would fit right in with the Nationals. He's the spark they need. You could imagine the fire and passion on that team with Stras Harper Werth Desmond AND CJ? That'd overload their team like our veteran leadership.

Mike Minor pithed a beauty, he really has for the last four to five starts, yet his record isn't great. This team needs to get over themselves and freaking play.

Also, Doumit struck out on a pretty nasty breaking ball there.

Oh, and lastly... LaStella needs to be up in the RBI situation, not CJoh. Chris is absolutely killing this team right now.

Avilan threw 17 high stress pitchers last night. In a tie game with runners on second and third. He came into that inning with no outs. I know relievers are supposed to be able to pitch on consecutive days. But you take into account it is a day game after a night game and what he had to do last night, and I think there was a good case to go to either Simmons or Carpenter to start the 8th inning.

Avilan also got the Gearrin treatment from Fredi in the last 11 days of May. He pitched May 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31.

I'll repeat about Avilan what I said about Gearrin last year. He is a pitcher I'd like to see pitching effectively for us come October. The way he is being used makes it unlikely that that will be the case.

Ok everyone calm down. Still a long season, we just started the month of June, haven't even gotten to July-August-September yet.

Sucks we couldn't back up the Marlins sweep and that the last month we've been absolutely terrible at home when we dominated home games the last few seasons.

Heyward is improving. La Stella looks like he could be the real deal, Johnson is trash (I had going into Niners mode but I've never really liked CJ tbh). Gonna take time for Justin to go under the assumption that it's not June but actually April/August.

Our pitching has hurt us considerably as well as the pen. The offense isn't going to score 5-6 runs every game, and our pitching has blown several games the last few weeks that the last few years we would've shut down the other team. Santana is lost, Harang is huge, Teheran is the only reliable guy, Minor is improving, and Floyd can't decide when he wants to play with the rest of the team. When they score him runs he sucks, when they don't score him runs he pitches better.

jsebe10
06-04-2014, 04:17 PM
Lol why is everyone complaining about the pitching usage...we scored ZERO runs.

What about Simmons' inability to cut down on his swing? Doumit's inability to do anything off the bench? Chris Johnson's inability to take until he gets a better pitch instead of swinging at the first one and right into a double play? Freeman swinging at HORRIBLE pitches ?
