It's pretty crazy that their lineup has basically two guys under .300 batting average. Rosario at catcher and Culberson at third base.

When healthy you can take out Culberson and put Arenado there which only leads Rosario.

Is this your first time hearing about or watching a game in Coors Field? This venue makes an avg hitter look like Mickey Mantle. Look at these guys' splits on the road...You'll see the truth there. The prime example is Drew Stubbd...he's not come close to hitting .240 in 3 seasons and he's hitting .326

It's pretty frustrating to watch. I care, I love the Braves, but it's hard to at times because I saw this coming. Again, I'm a optimist, so I always want to expect a great turnaround, but this team has a lot of holes that hurt. The great thing is that I see a lot in the Nats as well, mainly due to injuries, so we may be just fine.

Expectations:

Freeman and J-Up .850ish OPS
Gattis .800-.850
Heyward .750-.775

Only partially. Wren's affinity towards slugs like Upton the Elder and Uggla creates a hole in the budget and line-up.

Move La Stella if you'd like. I'm not a huge believer in line-up construction making that much of a difference, but he's the only guy really hitting now.

I'm of the opinion that Simmons is going to be the most frustrating offensive player we will see in many a year. Good contact guy, but doesn't put the ball in play with that much authority. He's a glove guy, so he more than earns his keep, but the guy has rally killer written all over him.

I agree with the majority of this. The biggest killer for us was signing BJ Upton. I like BJ, I've always been a big fan of the guy, but that killed us. I can't even imagine how much better this team could be if we got someone else. Without Dan, this team is visibly better but not enough to where it's gonna win us consistent games. Nonetheless, this team needs another consistent BP arm, preferably a lefty and a change of the bench. Not resigning Reed Johnson killed us. Little things will do it for you from year-to-year.

Also, how is this awful Chacin dude getting so luck? I call it luck because he sucks, I don't really care, it is.

I want the Rockies to plunk someone and a bench clearing brawl happens. However I pretty sure the team would swing and miss in that too.

If it got violent enough I'm sure someone on our team would finally score, at least.

When were waiting to go onto the field on Memorial Day, we were watching the players park. Gattis did hop out of a Prius. I put that on my mothers grave too.

Laird got smacked in the head from Dickerson's backswing. Carpenter was pitching and after Laird left the game Gattis came into catch. Next pitch Carpenter drills Dickerson. Carpenter is ejected and so is Walt Weiss because he was mad at Carpenter. Varvaro accidentally hit another Rockies player. I believe a ball grazed his jersey. Gattis was hit in the top of the 9th for revenge.

Dalyn

I am actually pretty sure Gattis called for the HBP. I doubt Fredi did. Probably in too much pain from that blow to the head.

Didn't see the game. Was there any final news on Laird? Did it look bad? (My always overdramatic parents said he was knocked out motionless on the ground.) Chance he'll be put on the 7-day concussion DL?

No concussion. Only thing at risk is postgame spread.

There is little doubt the Braves are reflecting the lack of heart that the majority of the locker room reflects. There is no Glavine, no Chipper, no Murphy, no one that will stand up and be counted about this crap. Gattis just shrugged off being hit, which you'd expect. Where is the righteous anger.

Terry Pendleton once walked off the field when Marvin Freeman refused to hit a batter in retaliation in a game in Cincy. Bobby Cox praised him. More and more, I think Pendleton needs to be managing this team.

Sadly, todays game has defined the '14 Braves. It needs a manager with fire and veteran leadership in the clubhouse. It has neither

I don't remember Cox's team's getting into many fights; really few and far between. Everybody's on Fredi's butt for not fighting. Not sure it was necessary here.
