The American League will be going into next week's Home Run Derby missing severaL of the favorites.

Monday, it was announced that MVP Miguel Cabrer and superstart Mike Trout will not be involved in this year's contest. Earlier, it was announced that Nelson Cruz, among the league HR leaders, was not participating.

For the NL, only Giancarlo Stanton is confirmed.

It's more exciting than the slam dunk contest but still unnecessary. I can live without it.

I just wish Chris "BACKBACKBACKBACKBACK GONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Berman wasn't broadcasting. He's one of the reason why I watched the NFL Draft on NFL Network.

"We expected this Homerun Derby to be a real slobberknocker, but so far it's been a snoozefest. Bah far the worst I can remember in my 35 years-

"Wait. What's that? Bah Gawd, that's Evan Gattis' music! That's Evan Gattis' music! Bah Gawd!"
