No one seems to be clever enough to think of a nickname for him. And he's been so consistently good and white that no one has been able to really irrationally complain about him, thus not netting him a nickname.

Honestly, Freddie's boring. Really good, of course, but good in that steady, professional, unspectacular way. By the end of the year he's going to be between .290-.300, between 20 and 25 home runs and around 100 RBI as a good-but-not-great defensive first baseman. He doesn't run fast, he doesn't hit massive home runs. He just hits his line drives to left-center. That's not a recipe for a good nickname.

Besides, "Freddie" is one of those first names that's mildly goofy enough that a nickname isn't necessary.

Credit to the home plate umpire for calling strike three despite a pretty poor job by Bethancourt of catching that ball. You don't see a lot of strikes called when catchers swipe at them that way.

Is it just me, or have our catchers (all of them) done a poor job this year of holding onto foul tips on strike three? Bethancourt couldn't wrangle a two-strike tip from Rollins a pitch or two before Jimmy's home run (admittedly, it would have been an excellent play).
