It's not the best of times in the Braves farm system when Rome (winning four of five) is the hottest team of the week. That means highlights are where you find them, and we'll try to pick out something less obvious in each game today. Tuesday was ugly, however, and my heart is dark.

Whadaya know, the Braves pounced on a player. Jan Guerrero, a lefty-hitting, 6-3, 190 Dominican first baseman, has signed with the Braves and joined the DSL team, Guerrero only turned 18 on July 18th! Since I don't work for the FBI or CIA, I don't know his signing bonus or if he even counts against the international cap. I am going to email Ben Badler at BBA on the off-chance he's got a light mail day.

His one-day trip to the majors was just the cherry on top.

Phil Gosselin, Gwinnett
(.692/.714/1.192, 7 G, 18-for-26, 6 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 10 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 SB)
If you want to earn an Offensive Player of the Week award, collecting 18 hits in seven games is a very sound approach. No one in the International League has more than Gosselin's 120 this season (in 88 games). The 25-year-old second baseman is batting 91 points higher in 2014 than 2013, and his torrid July -- along with Dan Uggla's one-game suspension -- earned him a callup to Atlanta on Sunday.

Kyle Wren is having a very solid season. I love that his walk rate has been consistent thus far after the promotion to Miss.

Call this kid up before the deadline to get him eligible for the postseason roster.

He'll be the gcl manager in no time at all. ..

I'll have to admit that I check minor league scores either at milb.com or on my phone app periodically throughout the evening, and every time I see Rome is leading--regardless of the lead--I'll think to myself "How are they going to f*ck it up and lose this time?" Glad to see they are playing better even though they continue to find ways to surrender huge leads and lose winnable games. W/L is of secondary importance in the minor leagues, but it's nice to see them playing well and finishing off their wins.

He could end up being a great guy to have on the bench in the playoffs. I approve this move.

Not sure why the comparison is made to JS JR. Wren can actually play baseball and may end up being a 4th outfielder somewhere.

We've caught a huge amount of lightning in a bottle in the form of Aaron Harang. A lifetime supply of lightning in a bottle.

Yeah, but since when is there such thing as too much lightening in the bottle?

Get Gosselin up here too.

 there is no deadline to have a player eligible for playoff roster. Technically there is but there is a loophole big enough to drive a truck through.
