Rome Braves first baseman Jacob Schrader was writing his own little Cinderella story in mid-June when he went down with a scary knee injury. He'd just hit a fly ball to the wall and his knee buckled as he was rounding first. He had to be helped off the field and was out for exactly 30 days.

At the time of his injury, he was leading Rome in RBIs and was hitting .358 for the month of June. He went 0-for-1 on his return, but since has scorched the ball (.450, 9-for-20)with five extra base hits and four RBIs. His season numbers don't look like they belong to someone who'd missed a month: .297-8-42 in only 86 games.

Schrader was the 27th-round pick in the 2013 draft -- the lowest pick to sign. He played at the University of Tampa, home of the Braves' latest free agent signee, Connor Obrachta, who had two hits in his pro debut.

And Schrader has a connection to this board because he's dating the sister of one of our own posters.

Good to see Schrader ripping it again. He is much improved this season. Biggest thing is he seems to be cutting down his Ks without sacrificing all of his power.

The University of Tampa, which, believe it or not, is the educational institution that owns the "ut.edu" domain.

I bet that makes Rick Perry really mad.

PS--Not to mention the folks who sing "Rocky Top" at the top of their lungs.

Isn't that everybody?

I mean the people who sing it out of tune during football games. You know who you are. LOL.

Maybe its time we give Greg Ross his due. Guy has quietly turned himself into a legitimate option for the rotation in a year or two.
