I have downloaded so much porn since 2006 that there are tons of video files in my external and internal hard drives that must be sad because they never or haven't been watched in almost a decade.

I don't know where people go where they get terrible service. I can count on one hand, and have a few fingers left, the amount of times I've been displeased with my service. Even when food has taken a little long, or something was wrong, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the server if they apologize or are clearly trying to do their best. Sometimes I have bad days at work and my performance isn't where I'd like it to be, but I get paid what I make regardless. Sometimes things go wrong for a server and pricks just love it to happen so they can justify being a prick. I've rarely, if ever, had service where it seemed the server just straight up didn't care and there was clear lack of effort.

AA, if your wife seriously tips 10% max, she should not be going out to eat. That is absurd. Personally, I would not go out to eat with a person that did that because I'd feel responsible for paying the rest of their tip. When a person I'm with tries to skimp on the tip out of nothing but cheapness, be sure they end up ponying up more if our checks are together.

I tip 20% for pretty standard service. If I enjoyed everything and nothing was wrong, I don't really go below that.

You ever have one of your and anyone with you, serves timed for mph? Bill James is adamant that a very good Tennis player could make it in mlb without to many problems.

You ever have one of your and anyone with you, serves timed for mph? Bill James is adamant that a very good Tennis player could make it in mlb without to many problems.

Bill James is not familiar with tennis equipment then...

I've been clocked at 125, but there's no way I could ever throw 90+mph regularly with a baseball.

Tennis is one of the few sports where height disadvantaged individuals have somewhat of a decent chance at playing on an equal playing field with taller peeps. I'm 5"8 on a good day, and most of the guys i play with are 6"0+. Those extra few inches of height are the difference between me hitting the net on the serve, and them getting it in with more speed.

My hand is not big enough to grip a baseball as tightly as someone like Verlander or even someone like Tim Hudson. In tennis however, you can have different grip sizes for the racket handle. In addition to that, racket weight ranges anywhere from 9.5oz to 12.8z. Generally if you're in the lower margin you can't generate your own swing speed so it's light to compensate, and if it's heavier, you are strong enough to swing really fast and impart a lot of impact.

The biggest variable in modern tennis, which is why nearly every male can serve 120-140 at ease, is racket strings. It's kind of like how Bonds lead the change to maple bats, now a lot of players use it compared to ash.

Now the great thing about tennis players is, the service motion is always the same so mechanically nearly every professional/collegiate leveled serve is on the same plane mechanically. It isn't like night and day looking at Alex Wood vs. Felix Hernandez. Some have a different motion leading up to point of contact (sliding a foot, or keeping foot still mainly for timing) but the mechanics are all almost the same. And serving is closer to an outfielder throwing everything he has to home plate trying to throw out a runner, than a pitcher throwing downward off the mound. Servers do use sliders (curving slice), a topspin serve (12:6 curveball) kick serve (a 9:3 slurve, that has an insane bounce), change ups, and fastballs.

Krgrecw
08-15-2014, 03:54 PM
I believe was James was referring to if a tennis player can return a serve going at 120 mph they'll have the arm strength and speed to adjust to hitting a baseball at 90- 95 mph. Even though the bats are heavier and have a shorter width it wouldn't be to hard to adjust

Sorry if you thought I was referring to pitching.

The Chosen One
08-15-2014, 04:18 PM
Ahh. Well the thing about returning is it may be 120 off the racket but once it bounces it's reduced to like 90mph. At that point no tennis players take full swings. Its either a half swing or block back.

My hand eye coordination is better with tennis than it ever was with baseball.

Hit in the batting cages a few weeks ago and man is it easier to track

zitothebrave
08-15-2014, 08:10 PM
I guess the idea is that tennis players have the necessary reactions and a similar skillset when it comes to rotational swinging. I know plenty of people who were pretty good at tennis and terrible at baseball though.

I wish I was 25 years old, I would put up a good game with you in tennis. When I lived in England, I played it daily due to my girlfriend obsession with it.

This has been getting a lot of press recently:

Peter Cohen, writing for iMore:

Let me say at the outset that I’m pretty ambivalent about U2 myself. They’ve never been one of those bands that I’ve absolutely had to have the latest album from. In fact, Songs of Innocence is the only U2 record I have in my iTunes library.

But the inordinate amount of actual anger directed at Apple and U2 over this is so disproportional to the actual event, I’ve started to wonder about the mental state of some of those complaining. It’s really been off the charts.

If you fall into that camp, let me speak very plainly: I have no sympathy for you. I have trouble thinking of a more self-indulgent, “first world problem” than saying “I hate this free new album I’ve been given.”

Nailed it.

Apple gave everyone a free Download of the unreleased U2 album and people bitch about it. Takes one second to delete the thing.,

I don't really want their hot dogs, but 40 bucks for two filet mignons and a bunch of stuff I'll likely buy at some point anyway does sound pretty good. I mean it's like ten hamburger patties. One of the rules of thumb, Omaha steaks never has a good deal. If all you really care about if Filet Mignon (which is a dumb thing to care about as it's a pedestrian cut of beef) you can get a pound of it for like 25 bucks. What I used to do back in the day when I lived near civilization is Shop Rite would once every few months run a sale and you could get a Grassfed beef tenderloin for like 6 bucks a pound. So after you did some butchering, you had yourself a handful of filets and some lovely roasts for a cheap deal. I kept the "scraps" and made my own burger meat every few months as well. Wasn't half bad.

If you want a real treat, find a good butcher and have them recommend something to you. Or go to whole foods. Back when I lived near civilization, whole foods steaks were the way to be. You'd spend 10-15 bucks for a big cut of meat but it was tender and flavorful, because they know how to properly butcher.

Legend has it that—back during the height of the French gentry's opulence, not long after the cut and preparation of the Chateaubriand received its name from the eponymous Vicomte—the so-called master-chefs would actually broil the entire tenderloin; they would discard the charred filet (mignon) and butt ends, because the real treasure was the perfectly-cooked center-cut of the tenderloin.

Of course, history has it that, until the Twentieth Century, Chateaubriand were actually cut from sirloin—but I like the story.

This might be some useful advice until you got to the grassfed part. Agreed on Omaha steaks being a deal. Nothing special about them IMO.

Filet pedestrian? child please.

Making your own burger is a great idea, just an effort.

Snake River Farms is a great place for high end beef, and their sister company Double R Ranch Prime Beef bone in ribeyes is on the "to do" list.

Grassfed beef is amazing. It's a bit different because it's leaner and "gamier" but it's exceptional. And Filet is pedestrian. It's great in it's own regard. But because of it's lack of flavor you have to season it more liberally than the great cuts like Ribeye, strip, or if you want to play it safer porterhouse is great as you get the tenderness of the filet on one half, and the more flavorful strip.

Keeps harassing my sisters asking for help but I've advised all of my family members to ignore him.

He's claiming he's a member of the Crypts now and I will in no way put my family in jeopardy because of this. He just called me for the first time in weeks and told me to **** off if I can't help him store his luggage.

It sucks seeing this because he's like a brother but he's not the same person anymore. I'm worried because he knows where my family lives in midtown Atlanta and already went there a week ago but he's not allowed to go there anymore and the concierge have been advised to not let him in.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60814-d2626844-Reviews-Ta_Ca_Sushi_Japanese_Fusion-Savannah_Georgia.html#REVIEWS

She gave us 1 out of 5 stars.

We highly recommend the food...sushi and pho. It was Veteran's Day and we visited for lunch. The staff was playing Christmas music. I simply asked if they knew chistmas music was on. As a
result the wait staff changed the music to the movie theme song from Halloween. Even the hostess commented on that selection so the wait staff turned to "patriotic" music blasting "Proud to be an American" from the speakers because it was Veterans Day. As we paid the bill and left, the music returned to christmas carols. This is how a business loses regular customers.

So this couple came in, we were PACKED this day. It was Veteran's Day lunch, we have 2 servers running with 18 tables inside and 6 patio tables out. The hostesses have no independent thinking skills and keep going by the book, so for anyone here who's worked in a restaurant, you would know that when the servers get overloaded with tables, it's probably not the best idea to give a server tables farthest away from each other as possible. Restaurant usually runs 4 servers for dinner so you don't get in the weeds, but 2 servers with that many tables + patio + bar is suicide. Anyways back to the couple, they walk in, see we're packed. What do they do? Demand a table. Not only demand a table, but specifically point out a table they want. A table that we don't usually use for lunch because it's just in the way. But the wife said WE MUST HAVE THIS TABLE. Out of 18 tables, 13 of them were occupied. 5 were open or just needed a quick bussing but she chooses to pick THIS table.

So we give it to her, I'm really cordial but relaxed with them as with all my tables. She orders the Pho, husband orders Hibachi. Yes we played Christmas music. My cousin and I enjoy Christmas music, so we played some because it was finally cold weather here, (34 to be exact that afternoon). Now we'd been playing christmas music before halloween, and customers didn't complain some actually said it was nice. Well she asks me "do you guys know you're playing Christmas music?" and I said yeah. So she complains, and I apologize and said a lot of people like it. Her husband loved it, was singing a long with some of the songs. Gave them their food promptly on time drinks never went below the half mark. Never waited for their check. As I'm making my rounds she says "it's Veterans Day, why not play something patriotic?" I said to her you know what that's not a bad idea. So I go into the office, switch it up to some Ray Charles - America the Beautiful, and I come back out and she stars laughing and gives me a thumbs up. Husband is entertained as well. I give them their check back, say thanks and make my way. As their leaving, after a few patriotic songs, spotify reverts back to the Christmas music so I guess she thought we were mocking her.

When I read the review, I could not believe it, nor could my cousin or the owner. Just hilarious all around, cannot believe someone could be such a dick to do that.

You have bad knees. Your kicks wouldn't have much pop to them. Maybe the sheer force of all that leg weight would sting but no momentum or speed.

As a former goalie, I have a very strong punt. Even with your short asian genes, should be close to a low punt height for me.

As overweight as you admit to be I have doubts you can even lift your leg that high anymore.

can't decide if we should stay an extra afternoon in Venice Italy while waiting for the ferry to Croatia

or if we should rent a car and drive

Extra afternoon plus the ferry. Venice is great, the jaunt across the Adriatic is very serene, and I took the ferry from Istria (Rovinj) to Venice this summer. Plus it's very Thomas Mann to take the ferry from Croatia to Venice (or vice versa, in your case).

It's the hipster part, I'd say—but a true hipster would appreciate the loaded kitsch value of cooking ****ty frozen burgers on a sad-sack George Forman grille.

was thinking this but

have a crazy idea of leaving early and going to the eagles nest in Germany and then driving to Bled Slovenia in that day instead before heading into Croatia

if not the Eagles nest, still go to Bled as the spot to stay but would open up options of small places along the way to stop etc

going to see what the lady thinks of the ideas.

you go to Slovenia at all?

Yeah, I definitely concur with the ferry recommendation. Although, a drive (depending on which route you take) could allow you to spend a few hours in Ljubljana, climb Castle Hill, enjoy a Slovene lunch.

Croatia is an amazing country; I lived in Split several months this time last year, and have spent shorter amounts of time in Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

Where will you be going in Hrvatska, goldfly?

I rented a car in Dubrovnik and drove to Prishtina (via the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro) ... it was only like 45 minutes to Kotor from Dubrovnik.

honestly not sure yet. we got our flight situated a couple days ago (Atlanta to Milan for $575 roundtrip taxes and everything per person) and taking the train to Venice when we land for a couple days and then it is off to Croatia one way or the other. we will be there Mid May

haven't yet figured out a plan past that

have a few thoughts though and thinking of making Split our base for 4 or 5 days of the week we are there if we go the car route

trip is 11 days overall

Nice, I saw that Milan fare on a few sites. I got in on the Moscow deal out of JFK for $385, leaving late March, but am really worried that I am not going to be able to get my Russian visa together in time.

If you want to go to Eagle's Nest, which is well worth it -- but a bit out of the way if you are having to backtrack to Croatia, consider a night in Salzburg and a local train out to the Kehlsteinhaus. It's astoundingly scenic.

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty epic trip.

Yes, and I really loved it—so if you have time to allot to Ljubljana, take the driving option and follow Hawk's advice once there.

There's also a really good vending-machine adjacent to main market-square that sells surprisingly fresh goat's-cheese and goat's-milk, which is a real boon if you find yourself—as I did—wandering the city all night, waiting for the morning train and playing flâneur, instead of actually paying to sleep somewhere for a few hours.

However, if you'll be rushed and only have time to visit the south-western, Croatia-bordering regions of Slovenia, I'll say it's really not too distinct from Istria, which would thus swing the argument back to "ferry".

nice, saw that deal as well. thought about it but the visa in the short amount of time made us look at different options. we got in on that emirates deal JFK to Milan for 800 for 2 people instead.

yeah, it is out of the way but from the Nest to Bled is only like 2.5 hours (not counting the border crossing time)

It's $99 all-in tax already included. Base fare $67. The lowest price I've ever seen to Europe.

You don't get to choose your seat, and the free carry-on max weight is 11 pounds. But that's doable - especially for the price.

I booked a flight to Amsterdam in December.

I need to get my passport.

Are those flights only from Boston? Jetblue from Savannah to Boston is $65 one way... so $164 to Europe sounds very sexy.

Nice
For that price, I should look into it. If even for a weekend trip it would be worth it
Even buying a flight from Atlanta to bwi

Speaking of ears, my left one is stopped up, probably an infection from a summer cold brought on by too much swimming.
