Top Braves prospect Jose Peraza was removed from the first game of the doubleheader last Thursday with what was finally called leg "soreness." His return has been delayed because of "precautions." But these words might actually be accurate, for a change. While he didn't play Friday, Peraza took batting practice Friday.

But it doesn't matter; Phil Gosselin is the Braves shorstop of the future. Andrelton Simmons and Minor will be dealt for a power hitter and the Braves rule.*

---------------
Braves have signed another minor league free agent, this one a local product. Stephen Gaylor, from Rome and Berry College, has been assigned to the GCL Braves, where he is hoping to play almost immediately.
Gaylor has speed (school record 89 SBs), a decent bat (.373 this year) and a gun for an arm. But the OF is more than that, said the Braves scout who signed him, Brian Bridges:

"Stephen has many of the tools to be successful in baseball: he's a 'plus runner,' can hit and has a strong arm. But more importantly, he's a high character guy and the right fit for the Braves."

Peraza is probably exhausted from sprinting from second to center at the start of every inning.

I like Gosselin, but if he's going to be our everyday anything then we're in trouble.
