Joe Simpson now on board with me about playing Gosselin in LF, JHey in CF, and JUpton in RF. That needs to happen like tomorrow. Gosselin brings too much to the table.

Taking pitches (and teaching kids to take pitches) is useless and shouldn't be encouraged. Basically said that batting average was important and that it makes a good leadoff many. Seems to go against taking pitches and wants guys to swing and put the ball in play. Talked about strikeouts etc.

The problem I have with taking pitches is when they do it with two strikes on them. So another words they are caught looking a lot. I hate that. Your best hitters often foul off the pitches and stays alive until they can find one that they can do something with.

Oh I am not saying he's a bad pitcher at all. He's still one of the best closers in the game. He has been spotty all year long. When he's on, he lights out. However he's been in a situations more often this season than ever before.

I am not advocating he be traded, but if a team called and asked Wren definitely should hear what they say.

I only trade Kimbrel for surefire serious MLB talent that can step in from day one and impact this team significantly. Even if he has lost a step this season, he's right up there at the top. I'm not giving him away for prospects, no matter how great they are considered.

If you notice the nights he has walks are coming off multiple days off. He has only 10 appearances in the last month. Also this was only his 2nd appearance in the last 11 days.

I laughed when he said that. Jeter wouldn't have even attempted the throw and probably wouldn't have fielded the ball. Maybe he would have gotten to it in his heyday. Even then, no way he throws the guy out. He was pretty good at making similar looking plays, but he often did the jump throw on balls Simba plants and throws ropes on.

They play their next 6 on the road against Seattle and LA after a 3 game sweep by Philly. Perfect time for them to hit the skids against Felix, Kershaw, Iwakuma. IF we play okay we could make up 2 games or so in that span (I'm hoping for 6 ;) ).

We still have 6 games head-to-head as well so you never know.

I mean, technically not impossible but they'd have to lose 5 of 6 and we'd have to hit a hot streak to gain ground.

I didn't see anything until late, but Simmons man. His defense is amazing. If he could hit anywhere close to .280 with 10-15 homer power and a decent OBP, he'd be the best SS in baseball and it's not even close. Yes, over even Tulo.

Simmons pulled a Jeter. He knew darn well he didn't have to go to the outfield and do the Jeter reverse jump and throw to get the guy out. He's losing range out there, and may only win a gold glove based on popularity like Jeter.

All I am saying is that there would be internal options to take over the closer role. If Wren were able to get back a decent package I think they should consider it.

Anyway it won't happen because a top player at a position doesn't get traded very often.

Kimbrel's "problem" this year is that his BB/9 has spiked to 4.2, while is was 2.0 and 2.7 in prior years. He's actually striking guys out at a higher rate and giving up hits at a lower rate this year, so he is still plenty dominant.

I don't think 60 IP from any closer is worth what the elite ones make, but Kimbrel's contract is pretty far down the list of problems for this organization.

Yeah. 0.881 WHIP last year compared to 0.924 this year. So much more runners then last year. I guess things like K rate and his HR rate dropping this year don't mean anything but giving up 1 more base runner every 18 innings does.
