Good for Gosselin getting so much playing time. The farm just keeps churning out major league players. They don't all need to be stars but just to get contributors is huge.

Gosselin gives hints of posessing heretofore unsuspected talismanic powers.

Revere is having as bad a season as it is possible to have while hitting .303. So that's fun.

Gosselin should start at 3B against right handed pitchers, but he shouldn't start at 2B against lefties. La Stella has killed lefties (.321/.406/.446) - probably because he is so good at going the other way.

Yea, given his success against Hamels you'd think they'd scheduled his off day better. Oh well.

Gattis hit the longest homer in MLB last year off Hamels. That was the game he just missed three homers off him too.

Good start by Heyward and Boni. Come on Freeman!

Braves1976

That terrible strike two call to Freeman led to that strikeout. Ump already burned us in a big spot.

Come on Justin!

This ump has seen Hamels' numbers against the Braves and obviously doesn't want to do anything to hurt those stats.

Braves1976
09-01-2014, 12:33 PM
Terrible AB by Justin, chased a ball way high and outside. All we needed was a little contact to score too. Now up to CJ or we waste the effort of Heyward and Boni.

The ump did cost us the Freeman AB. Now CJ fails as usual lately so we get nothing.

Now Hamels will probably settle in and dominate.

At least CJ hit the ball hard and brought you to the edge of your seat. Freeman and Upton didn't even put the fckn ball in play. And Freeman failed, as usual.

USMA76

Can't imagine that throwing away that opportunity in the first inning won't cost us against Hamels who pretty much owns us anyway.

Freeman is a lefty facing a tough lefty who got a gift call for strike two, that changed his AB. But I'll give you the Justin AB as he just messed up and chased a bad ball.

That could be game given Hamels has pwned us this year in his starts.

1st inning was our best chance to score vs Hamels.

Braves1976

Heyward is having a great game so far. Justin you could argue owes us two runs (one for no contact his first AB and one not throwing out Asche). Let's make it right now Justin! Well, nevermind.

We need a big hit by CJ here!

Braves1976

CJ chases a ball and takes a strike. Great start to this AB...

No reason to throw CJ a strike when you have him 0-2. If that fell in that would've been a gift giving him a pitch like that 0-2 after he showed he'd chase low and away and high and away.

So are a lot of the guys we would face in October. You can't keep using the excuse of a guy just being too hard to hit. Phillies aren't have any problems with Teheran this half inning. Doesn't matter who is on the mound, you have to win games like this.

Simmons is the best at his position defensively whereas CJ is among the worst at his position. So not even close to being able to say that or compare the two. Plus that was an in between hop leading to the error, it happens.

This hurts and it is embarrassing, but if gets heads to roll now instead of later and we take off after the firing like other teams have done. Then it would be worth it but alas I doubt anything happens till after the season, if at all.

They absolutely need to be held accountable. I have no doubt some of them will be gone after the season and I hope Fredi and Walker are on the same bus out of town.

With what 30 of so games left?

I understand you don't care if we make the playoffs or not, that is your motto. As long as it just a game, like politically, cool and what not, why should I care, attitude.

We are winners, we expect to win and field a team of winners. You don't, we respect that, but fvck you in not having any care if we win or lose.

JUpton was surprised and seem none-too-thrilled about being replaced in 9th inning, but bit his tongue in commenting about it.

Our manager is the reason we won't be re-signing JUpton and Heyward

No I'm pretty sure thats on our GM and the fact that he has consistently tied up a quarter of our payroll in AAAA garbage players.

I was being facetious to Sturg earlier with my comment about it not mattering that Justin was pinch hit for.

Here's the differences in the managers.

To secure the no-hitter, Sandberg brought in his closer. Fredi hit for his best hitter.

Not saying Sandberg is better, but it's telling.

U know the thing about this team and I'm not sure if it's them or it's us but just when we think this team is on a roll something like this happens or usually worse since this is only one game. Same thing when we think this team has no chance they show us that they do. Soooo maddening either start playing more consistAntly or stop giving us hope that better days are ahead. At least we got no hit by Hamels and not Kendrick or something

09-01-2014, 05:23 PM
So are a lot of the guys we would face in October. You can't keep using the excuse of a guy just being too hard to hit. Phillies aren't have any problems with Teheran this half inning. Doesn't matter who is on the mound, you have to win games like this.

Sure but the offense blows.

Been that story all year, the team just isnt that good.

Kind of how I feel. This is a less than optimum mix of players. The foundation of Freeman, Heyward, and J. Upton (in alphabetical order) is pretty solid. Gattis is a good complementary player. La Stella is a good contingent player. The other guys can't hit at all.

Didn't get to watch was Julio bad all day or did he get frustrated and implode like he does from time to time? Frankly Julio's outing is more concerning to me then the offense sucking we knew that already

Everyone is just overreacting because we got no hit. It's okay, I threw my controller against the wall when we gave away the game in the 7th inning. It's just another loss though. Granted, we can't suffer many more of those, but we're still in this.

Listening to FG on the pregame today talking about Wood's yesterday outing saying Wood was frustrated for not getting through the 8th in his last start and him saying if he expected to be an elite NL starter he had to learn how to do that. My thoughts are after the error today that is what happened to Teheran. And this isn't the first time. He says he threw Rivera a good pitch but just didnt get where he wanted. I think, next year, he makes that pitch.

On Julio's end, growing pains. Not imploding or getting frustrated just didn't get the ball where he wanted. Perhaps a lag in concentration or, just trying too hard to make a perfect pitch

That's complete BS. It made perfect sense to get constanza an AB there. The no-hit means nothing. That's a perfect example of the kind of decisions managers have to make and fans bitch about.

Have you ever played? It sucks to get no-hit. You better believe Justin wanted to break it up. To say it means nothing is ignoring the mental side of the game.

I'm sure Fredi had a "gut feeling" about Constanza. What better way to throw off Papelbon's game than to bring in someone he totally wasn't expecting! Geared up for the MVP candidate? Sike! We got you with our tricksies! Here's our AAA call-up! Haha!

Not based on his and the rest of the Braves comments after the game. They just said it's another loss didn't matter whether they got 20 hits or no hits, they said a loss is a loss. That's what pisses me off about this team, they don't seem that has some sort of embarrassment, they should be pissed off at getting no-hit, but instead it sounds like they don't care.

Didn't watch the game today. Nice to see the Braves bats decided to take Labor Day off as well.

I always will point blame at the players first. After all, they are the ones that have to do the job. That said, Greg Walker has got to go. This offense has been bad all season and it needs a new voice. Whatever he has been teaching has not worked. Whether Fredi Gonzalez is back or not, Walker needs to be nowhere near the Braves batters.

To me it is a sign of maturity that a team doesn't get too high after some success or too low after a loss. Anyone can break a bat or throw a helmet.
