RHP Cory Gearrin has been optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. A corresponding move will be announced tomorrow.

I'm guessing we'll see Luis Ayala back in Atlanta. He should be ready to go.

one thing's forsure, better not be rasmus

how much did the over-usage of gearrin lead to his struggles?

I don't believe that was the case. I believe that when he got shelled against the Mets on May 26th he lost his confidence and has been fragile ever since.

No question that this demotion was earned. The Braves need a long man; wonder if they might call up Poveda -- he the best Gwinnett has right now.

Gearrin had a long leash. He was good early on, but his struggles lately needed to be replaced with someone else.

What are the chances we see Cody Martin up some time this year?

I go back and forth on Gearrin. I thought Fredi used him erratically, but I don't know if that's a defense for his performance. I kind of think he's Brad Clontz-lite. Clontz had a couple of nice seasons for us, but the margin of error for most side-armers is fairly small.

What's weird about Gearrin (and I was a huge fan of him getting a chance this year) was that in previous years he got RHB out and got shelled by LHP. This year it's been just the opposite. He's getting LHB out and getting shelled by RHB.

True. Very confusing.
