Behind a strong pitching performance on both sides, the Mississippi Braves walked off with a 1-0 victory in a 10-inning pitcher's duel at Trustmark Park Thursday night. The series continues with game four of a five-game series and a 10-game homestand Friday at 7:00 PM.

Mycal Jones led off the bottom of the 10th with a single to right field. He promptly swiped second and took third on a wild pitch. Edward Salcedo walked and Braeden Schlehuber was intentionally walked to load the bases before Christian Marrero delivered the game-winning drive through the right side.

Pensacola's Tim Crabbe worked nine innings. He gave up just five hits and a walk while striking out three batters. Mitch Atkins tossed seven innings for the M-Braves, giving up just five hits and a walk. He struck out nine batters.

Pat Egan (6-1) worked the final three innings to pick up his sixth win of the season for the Braves (15-16, 53-48). He held Pensacola (15-17, 40-61) to two hits and fanned one batter. Jamie Walczak (0-1) recorded one out in the 10th before giving up the decisive run.

Both teams threatened throughout the night. Pensacola loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the second but did not score. In the sixth, Yorman Rodriguez singled, stole second and took third on a ground out. However, he was cut down at the plate.

The Lynchburg Hillcats picked up their fifth walk-off win of the season with a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Potomac Nationals Thursday night at City Stadium. Trent Moses lined a double to left-center to drive in David Rohm before an out was recorded in the tenth for the winning run. John Cornely pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get his third win of the season.

Rohm led off the tenth with a single then Josh Elander was hit by a pitch while trying to lay down a sacrifice bunt for Trent Moses, who lined a single to left-center field to drive in Rohm and give the Hillcats their fifth walk-off win.

After the Hillcats (11-19, 47-52) had a runner thrown out at the plate in the first inning and two stranded in scoring position in the second, three unearned runs finally got Lynchburg on the board in the third.

Elander hit a one out single then got to third when Potomac 3B Mike Gilmartin made two errors on one grounder from Moses, putting runners at the corners. Kyle Kubitza bounced into a fielder's choice that scored Elander for the game's first run. Later Shawn McGill bounced a ball out in front of the plate that he beat out for an infield single, allowing two runners to score and giving the Hillcats a 3-0 lead after three innings.

Cunningham and Pastor are gonna be good bench depth next year. I have little doubt they won't be our starting backup IF and OF.

While unlike our current 2B, power is a concern with La Stella, his walking more than striking out would be a welcome addition in Atlanta.
