thewupk and I are going to bet on which player has a higher on base percentage for the 2015 season. I am taking Nick Markakis and he is betting on Jason Heyward. I propose a 25.00 dollar straight up bet. Only qualifier is that both players reach a certain number of plate appearances.

thewupk

I agree to this. 400 plate apperances sound fair?

NinersSBChamps

Sure 400 plate appearances is the requirement. Higher on base percentage wins.

Wouldn't bet against a player in his walk season. Jason is playing for a lot of money.

I still say it's a coin toss. Markakis I think is a lock for a 8.5% walk rate. Heyward for 10.0% walk rate. Will depend on batting average for both players. I think Markakis should hit .280 or higher. Heyward will need to hit .270.

Then BRule stopped posting. Strange....

Currently, Markakis has a .8 WAR advantage. Hart is pretty awesome that he found a way to trade Babe Ruth and still upgrade the position.

The 3 Johns managed to improve the major league club while freeing up $55 million and turning a bottom 5 farm system into a top 5 farm system in a single offseason.

Baseball America has them as the 15th ranked. Far cry from top 5. Although they were bottom 5 last season.

I'm afraid I'm just the opposite. He will always struggle against any pitcher who can locate a decent fastball. Anywhere up or in will get him.

On July 4th. Heyward sits at 332 and Markakis 388

Heyward has been on a tear recently too. Definitely gonna continue to get close I think. On June 10th Nick was about 100 points up and in nearly a month Jason has cut that in half.

30 point gap with a little over 2 months to go is still sizable difference. But Heyward is on fire while Nick is scuffing
