I'd trade him for Profar and Martin Perez.

It's hard for me to think of scenario where trading McCann would make sense for us this year.

So you'd say no for just Profar? lol

They're inquiring. Might as well trade him higher.

Oh man....if they wanted to give us Profar I would jump for joy.

I know we are in it to win this year but if you get an offer that blows you away you have to take it. Move forward with Gattis/CB as your catcher and then have profar slide right into 2B. WOW!

Yeah so when you ask for both, they LOL to death and you never hear from them again. Back in reality, we aren't getting Profar for Mac, I'd certainly take Perez and another prospect or 2, though.

BUT if for some reason they offered Profar for Mac, you accept right away.

If they'd trade us Profar we'd be crazy to say no (esp. since we're probably letting Mac walk after the season).

This doesn't make us better this year though, and we have a legit shot at the World Series this year.

You don't trade one of your best hitters when half the lineup has been struggling for most of the year. If we weren't in contention, I'd definitely consider the right offer.

We should have countered with Gattis for Profar.

We should have countered with Gattis for Profar.

That would be another great trade for the Braves.

I like it — but can we add Uggla to that package?

An all-Curaçao middle-infield could lead to some cool double-dutch DPs.

Either way we'd lose our current edge in bald white guys but, in Jurickson Bartholomeus Profar, we'd increase our lead in Curacao-born infielders with awesome names.

Do McCann for profar, then move Chris Johnson this winter when his value is high, then slide Simba over to 3b, and boom, leadoff problem solved.

No one in their right mind would want Profar at short over Simmons. Profar can play second or third.

Are you serious?

Absolutely. Simba has the arm for it. Then he could hit in the two hole, and your
Lineup would be thickened out;

Profar
Simmons
Heyward
J-Up
Freeman
Uggla
Gattis
BJ
Pitcher

Shortstop is the most important infield position for defense. That's not to say the others are not important, it just means you want your best defender there rather than third. This isn't like with Baltimore where Hardy is at short. We'd be crazy to move Simmons off short because he's the best there is at short. I am all for adding Profar, but for second or third, not short. Though him backing up short and playing there on Simmons off days is a good idea.

Anybody who ever wanted to move Simba off SS has lost it. The guy is the best SS in 20 years to come along. Crazy.

I haven't seen a ton of profar. If y'all think he could play 3rd in that scenario, I'm open to it. That's not that important in my hypothetical scenario. I just want Profar, and you'd have to move someone to get him in the lineup, and you'd get a lot more for Captain Babip than Uggs. That's the important part.

Keep in mind, most natural shortstops have no problems moving to third. Janish for example is a shortstop but currently our back-up third baseman too.

The mere suggestion of moving the best defensive SS in the game (by FAR) off SS is just crazy and deserves to be ridiculed.

I have. He can definitely play all infield positions minus first and play them well. He also plays a little outfield. The thing is, you're not getting him. The Rangers are desperate for hitting because they're really struggling to score runs like the Braves. They're hoping to trade a couple of arms for McCann, and we don't need more pitching.

Nathan for Mac, meh, not awful but can't move him for that.

Here are then numbers for some other players in that league that year (age):

Miles Head (20) 1.022 OPS
Harper (18) .977
Schoop (19) .890
Profar (18) .883
Yelich (19) .871
Machado (18) .859 (limited AB)
Bogaerts (18) .834

He's the best defensive shortstop in the game, easily.

Did Heyward hijack your account?

I posted numbers of some guys from 2011 in A ball when Profar was 18. (poster was mistaken that it was AA that Profar played in as age 18). Those numbers are listed above. You said Head was in High A, I posted his stats from the Sall league where Profar played.

When Profar was 19, he played in AA. Here is a comparison:

Tavares (20) .977 OPS
Singleton (20) .893
Profar (19) .820

Profar was the only 19 year old in the league.
