Folks,

Way, way back in September of 2013, I bought my wife an amazing surprise vacation for her 50th birthday. Due to a plague of misfortunes, including the death of her dad, the death of my dad, and having to care for a mother-in-law with severe dementia, we have had to keep postponing. Alas, we are leaving tomorrow. So, for the first time since I was six years old, I am missing opening day.

Since I will be in some backward-ass third-world country without proper coverage of American sports, I am counting on this forum to keep me up-to-date. Please have my back on this, guys.

So sorry to hear about all of the difficult times with both sets of parents but I hope that you really enjoy your vacation.

Braves traded Freeman to Texas for Yu Darvish. The John's were quoted as saying "we would never get a pitcher of Yu's caliber if he was healthy so as soon as we heard he had TJ surgery we were on the phone with Texas".

Edit - yes, they all said the same quote in unison.

Just make sure you vociferously assert the superiority of American sports. The French love that. I promise that we won't more than 10 games out by the time you get back.
