Personally, I don't understand why we aren't seeing:

Markakis RF
Simba SS
Freeman 1B
AJ C
Cjoh 3B
Gomes LF
Peterson 2B
Maybin CF

That seems BEST out of what we have.

A lineup with Callaspo hitting 5th is an embarrassment.

BTW, I watched the replay of yesterday game (I missed most of it live) and boy what an idiot Joe Simpson made of himself talking about how Bethancourt could learn a thing or two about pitch framing from AJ. That is total horse crap as AJ has long been among the worst in that area. Bethancourt could improve in that area sure but if so he won't from AJ who he's already an improvement over. Further, DRS has AJ at -3 already and Bethancourt at saving two runs already in less games. Bethancourt is night and day better than AJ defensively. Plus I don't think AJ is very good at calling games so I hope Bethancourt doesn't try to learn from him there either.

Jesus, Fredi. Play Maybin, CJ, and Bethancourt each day. This team is bound to lose 90-100 games every day anyway, so play Maybin and Bethancourt to see what you have and play CJ to try to get him on a hot streak until July and trade him.

Dumbassery by Peterson. Lucky to not get picked off by the catcher on second base so he gets picked off on the next pitch by the pitcher. Are you effing kidding me?

“We will keep doing what we are doing,” Gonzalez said. “(Peterson) is having some good at-bats. Obviously in this game the more success you have, the more playing time you get.”

Freddi probably judges success on whether or not the balls hit the ground as opposed to the quality of AB's the player is having. What a disaster he is.

That was a terrible call on Freeman. He clearly checked his swing. Then, to make things worse, the umpire stared him down and provoked him into an ejection. When will umpires learn that they are the supporting cast, not the stars of the show. Just call a good game and be quiet.

As was stated earlier, Uggla was a great team player and gave the team everything he had on every play. He just turned out to not be nearly as good as we needed him to be. Didn't he set a team hitting streak that still stands? Booing him is just classless IMO.

Fister hasn't been good so far this year, coming in they were talking about him being up the zone a lot and losing velocity. I don't think we're seeing the same Fister as we've seen in the past.

Still came into the game with a sub 3 ERA.

Well sure - take out the games we won and we were winless.

Last year was terrible. It was the same team as 2013. The problems were Fredi, BJ, CJ, and Uggla... We could have worked to replace them and been a great team once again (like the previous 4 years).

Freddie had an AB with seven pitches, all of which were balls. Two were called strikes and a third was called a swing, incorrectly. He did a little bit of a half-accidental helmet flip and walked off muttering. Crew chief cussed him and warned him to shut up when he could have easily just turned the other way since Freddie was in no one's face. Tossed him in an effort to make the game about himself. (IMO).

And you are still making the same mistake in not realizing that at least 1 of Upton/Heyward would not have been here after next year and Gattis couldn't play catcher anymore.

I'm not making the mistake of anything... The team needed to invest in one of them, period. If they did - you could make the case to trade the other.

In fact - I think our team could have been set up much differently if they had the EXACT same offseason, without making 2 of the trades. The trades they shouldn't have made were the Upton and Banuelos deals. If everything else happened exactly the same - I'd actually think we had a decent shot at wild card this year...

1. Maybin
2. Markakis
3. Upton
4. Freeman
5. CJ/KJ
6. Pierzinski/Bethancourt
7. Simmons
8. Callaspo

We'd have the same pitching staff, and the bullpen would have Carpenter and Shreve. We'd have the money to afford JUpton. We would have replenished the farm with Gattis and Kimbrel trades, along with the smaller ones. And we'd be in much better shape for the future.

And that's with the dumb signing of Markakis included
