I'd say fairly slim unless he absolutely rakes. Cunningham is playing well in AAA and while his ceiling isn't that high, I wouldn't be surprised to see him replace Gosselin on the roster at some point just to see what he can offer and if he figures into the future at all. Toscano is another guy we may see at some point. Smith isn't on the 40-man roster and doesn't have to go on it until after the season, so my guess is they will wait on him.

Yea, I like Smith as much as anyone here seems to but I think the target is 2016 for him rather than this season. Perez should get a look this season though.

That said, Dustin Peterson who's the other Peterson from the Justin Upton trade is having a big night for Carolina in high-A tonight. He is 4-4 with a double, homer (3), and two RBI's. That's good to see from him.

Really does boil down to starting pitching. Nothing more deflating that bad starting pitching. Always playing from behind and tight.

reported attendance of 12,500 tonight... against our top division rival

Which is confusing because the team is really fun to watch.

Like Julio alluded to last night, it is kinda funny(?), or weird(?), or sad(?) that I don't even get upset about these losses. It makes the season easier to get through - but having no expectations kinda takes the fun out of it

Yeah. Expecting a team to suck and watching them suck is a lot more fun then watching a team supposed to be good collapse and burn. I was told that I would enjoy this team more and they are right. That's what matters, right?

I recall us usually being in the 15-20 range

Average to below average is generally the norm. I don't live or have never lived anywhere near Atlanta, so I don't know what the issues are/were.

Reality.

Gonna be uggly from here on out.

Even if Fredi should be fired, I'd bet #6 prevents it. I want him fired because I'd like to see your reactions. I can't fathom someone else ever being at fault after reading this board.

*sigh* it's worse after being led on after a good first week.

What's upsetting is that it's topsy-turvy. I thought we'd be losing 1-0, 2-1, 5-2; games like that. The offense has been streaky, but has put runs on the board. The starting pitching, which I thought would be better, has just stunk.

Through 8 home games (according to baseball ref) the Braves are down 33K in attendnace so far compared to last year through 8 games. Only the Rays, Rangers, and Phillies are worse.

And long-term, the starting pitching issues are the bigger deals. It's great that Pierzynski is hitting like Ted Williams and that Markakis is leading off like a fiend, but the long-term plan looks decidedly murkier if something is wrong with Teheran.

Atlanta is kind of a Relo-ville in that it's a regional center where a lot of people without local ties reside. That usually means you get a lot of fair weather fans. Same thing in Minnesota.

Disappointed in the starting pitching outside of Miller. Wood and Teheran really seem to be struggling with control/command. Both have nearly double their typical BB rate.

I should have stated I am a Minnesotan and have seen this big-time up here. It's not as bad as it used to be (when a Yankees' game at the Old Met Stadium was pretty much a Yankees' home game), but if the Twins aren't winning, attendance falls off fast. Lots of other things to do in Minnesota in the summer.

Well sure, but I do enjoy a baseball game any chance I can get. I think it's the same in most baseball cities save for places like St.Louis, New York, and Boston.

Only a matter of time before the tv crowd goes too... tough to give up 3 hours of a summer night on a bad product

The key question is how close the fall in revenue will be to what they estimated. I think there will be some downside surprises and it will affect payroll in 2016.

Playing through injuries will lead to poor performances. And Wood was good before last night. Bad outtings happen but Julio needs his start skipped at the least.

If our attendance do not rise in the summer, I am afraid to say, kiss those expensive targets goodbye. Liberty has already proven they are not going to spend money after the bLowe, Kawakami, BJ Upton, strUggla (not against the Braves) fiasco.

i can't help but to think many folks inside the city will be done with the braves forever. there are just so many reasons to hate this organization right now, it's not even funny. and that's from somebody that thought trading heyward away was awesome...
