Peterson also with a RBI double and a run scored.

Kid has really impressed so far this year.

7-inning one-hit shutout for Janas. We may need to start talking about him. Had a perfect game going into the 7th.

What's the report on him? I do notice that's he's almost 23 which makes him old for his league.

He a sixth-round pick in 2013 out of Kennesaw State. I know he missed a year there due to injury (TJS I think), so he was 21 when drafted. Braves have brought him along slowly. He hardly saw any action at Danville and didn't join Rome until late-May last season. Hard to know what to think. He's right at the average age for the Carolina League and seeing he doesn't have a ton of experience, he's probably in the right place to gauge his development. I'll see if I can find a scouting report on him.

Ah... TJ. Makes sense now.

He seems like the next random arm in our system who has a lot of success. He should replace Cody Martin when he blows his arm out in 2 years.

My recollection is that he was drafted more on projection than anything. He was coming off TJ and the Braves thought his stuff including fastball velocity would tick up. Extreme ground ball pitcher. Very low walk rate this year.

All projection. Great call nsacpi. He only reached the high 80's at one point after the surgery and the hope was that he would throw a lot harder. I haven't gotten to see him this year, but his fastball is never straight and has a lot of movement. Doesn't walk many at all. He's considered a back-end starter and if he can somehow continue this type of pitching he will start getting more attention.

Pitchers are more unpredictable in their development. Guys like Millwood and Venters were ok prospects but suddenly something clicked for them and they turned out to be very good at the major league level.

Venters was a starter mostly in the minors and in 2009 he put up bad numbers in AAA. But I followed him quite a bit that year so I knew he was better than that. I remember debating other Braves fans that called him a bust at that point. Of course the very next year he was dominating out of our bullpen in the Majors. It just goes to show some failed starters make great relievers.

I didn't see him pitch today but I saw his last start and was impressed. He seems to be a groundball machine, at least he was the games I watched him pitch.
