16 Ks in 40 pitches is darn impressive. Nigh impossible.

Jenkins just took a line drive off his wrist for Mississippi, surprisingly they kept him in the game even though he didn't look right trying to break off a curveball warming up (announcers said that btw, I agree though). He did get out of the inning on one pitch after being left in so we'll see if he comes back out. Hopefully he's okay whatever the case.

Jenkins seems okay now, he's through six innings with no runs allowed. He has walked three and hit a batter since but still pitching well. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about and his wrist won't swell up after the game. Further, Ruiz has finally got a hit to break out of his long slump. He had been hitless in his previous 8 games. Plus the hit was an RBI double to give Mississippi the lead.

Mallex Smith is 1-3 so far today.

Why doesn't Jenkins miss more bats? Guys stuff looked amazing in st. Love that he is getting outs but just curious to those that watch his minor league outings.

Weber is making some noise.

Weber is making some noise.

Before his promotion he had 23 strikeouts and 1 walk in AA. That's ridiculous. I should have found a place for him on my Top 30 list.

Robinson blew the 9th inning 2-0 lead costing Jenkins a W today, but Mallex Smith knocked in the game winner in the 10th with a RBI base hit. He finished 2-5 on the day.

BTW, I noted that a day after I knocked Chris O'Dowd's ability to catch that he was moved off catcher and played RF today. I wonder if that means they're giving up on him catching.

Tyler Jones got the save as well by striking out the side. Tyler has always had good stuff but no control but recently he's remedied that problem. He's going to be a valuable member of the 2016 bullpen. A possible future closer for us as well.

We'll see, but I tend to doubt that he has closer potential. He's 25 and only just now seeing AA.

I feel pretty confident that he was given a specific list of things to work on - fastball location, tightening up breaking stuff, changeup, etc. - after working with Roger during camp (like Folty and Banuelos). I'd doubt rather seriously that they're looking for high K-rates at this point. With his stuff, he'll miss more bats when he's focused on hitters rather than himself eventually.

BTW - that's 16 shutout IP for the Heyward return yesterday. Just sayin'.
