View Full Version : 5/29/15 MINORS FINAL...WOW. Three shutout wins (including Carolina!)

Think it's safe to say the Braves lied by omission about injuries suffered in the Carolina bus wreck. Schrader was the only player to come back after a week; none of the injured pitchers have been heard from as the Mudcats' losing streak is now 12 games since the wreck -- tying the franchise record. One FA pitcher has been signed; that's it. The Mudcats were a first-place team and need to have Dustin Peterson back ASAP. Wish straight, honest injury appraisals would be forthcoming, but it ain't happening!

Just a hunch on my part, but I would venture a guess that the players involved in the bus crash haven't passed the concussion protocols that would clear them to get back on the field.

Eager to see Martin in his effort to get stretched out. Guy could be VERY useful at the ML level if he sticks cheaply as a strong 4\5th starter.

I'm as big a fan of Martin as anyone not named Dalyn and am convinced he has a shot to make it as a major league starter. But I think the needs of the major league team call for him to be in the pen right now. Guys like Veal, Masset and Cunniff are getting lit up lately.

I think the Braves are going to trade one of Peterson, Peraza and Smith. Might just go with whatever guy brings back the best player.

Could be. However, I'm thinking that Peraza will come up later this year and play CF while moving Maybin to left. Makes our offense much better.

The front office also probably has an assessment as to which one will end up being the better player. I'm sure that will affect any decisions it makes. Btw there is no guarantee that any of these guys pans out. Peterson has had some good stretches but I'd like to see him have a couple more hundred at bats before making any firm decisions. I think we should take our time making this call.

He's shown a lot defensively though, so that even if his babip drops to Simmons territory (unlikely, imo), he'll still be a + WAR player at 2nd. I think he'll be the worst player of the three, but because of that maybe won't fetch us as much in a trade. Either way it will be interesting to see how this nice little problem we have plays out.

Man, I just don't see how you don't give Smith a look out there though if he continues to hit like he has this season and last season.

I'm not sure we see Mallex this year. If we do it'll be in September. We have to see how he handles AAA first.

Lol the two petersons got me confused

Do you mean Dustin or Jace? If I'm not mistaken Jace can play LF.

Dustin was moved off third to left field and I do believe Jace could play it too if called upon to do so.

If so, that would likely be Peraza since he's our top prospect. But I would try to keep all three personally unless we get an offer we can't refuse.

I see no reason to trade either if these guys until at least a year from now. There is absolutely no rush.

It would be nice to see Jace go on a tear at some point and play his typical elite defense. If he can establish himself as 3 WAR player then we have some trade leverage with either he or Peraza.

Cody Martin with a nice 3 inning worth of work so far. So many starting pitching options right now.

Peraza 2 for 2 with a double so far tonight as well. The rest of the year at the big league level won't result in a great year but I really do believe we are going to start seeing a much higher level of baseball as soon as next season. This season is just going to be bleh for the most part aside from a few key players.

I haven't either. I think Hart traded a bag of oranges to the Brewers for him.

Sounds like some oranges well spent. Maybe next time we should throw in some peaches too. :)

My guy Keith Curcio is having a solid night with a double and a walk. Off to a slow start in Carolina but still is showing a solid BB/K ratio and may have the ability to stick in CF.

Mudcats win! Mudcats win! It took 13 games and a 12 game losing streak after the bus accident. But the Mudcats have finally won again. Good for them!

Seth Webster leads his new team to the win. His second very good outing for the Mudcats. Having Joey T there on a rehab helped them tonight too.
