Gomes vs the RHP.

Gomes hasn't started since the 6th, Cunningham just went 0-5 with 3 Ks, and Shields doesn't have a huge platoon advantage over RHHs (actually a slightly higher career OPS vs RHHs).

This is exactly the time to start Gomes vs a RHed pitcher if the goal is to keep him as sharp as possible.

His OPS is .499 against RHP this season. I understand that he needs a start occasionally to stay sharp, but it's more important for this team to see what Cunningham or Joe T can do with regular PAs. Jonny has started 15 games against RHP this year. He got several starts last week. "As sharp as possible" may be irrelevant.

I'd go with Terdo for a while. Lord know he can't pinch hit worth a damn (look at what he did in 2013), play him every day for a while. Cunningham's not much with the bat, just a singles guy at best. Let him play the late innings for defense.
Gomes vs LHP, nothing else.

The right decision would be to send Gomes packing but it will probably be Ciriaco or Terdo with peterson playing CF maybe in a dire need situation.

No way they release Gomes, if he goes it will be via trade. It might be Cunningham that goes back down, time will tell.

I'd go with Terdo for a while. Lord know he can't pinch hit worth a damn (look at what he did in 2013).

Whew, Grilli made it interesting but held on. Great comeback win, rally started by a Peterson double, Simmons big hit scored three, Gomes tied it and Joey T won it. Congrats to Joey on his first MLB homer.

With the exception of the Jays getting Donaldson, that was arguably the best move by any club of the off-season.

He is terrible at sliding, he stops a lot and when stealing second he pops up off the bag too much (costing himself stolen bases occasionally).

Bait taken.

Considering if that runner from 3rd scored, we'd be going to extras with Cahill and Masset. Yikes.

He practically wasted Cunniff and Aardsma tonight -- especially Cunniff. At least with Aardsma, the Braves had their big inning and had to pinch hit for him. Relievers can go multiple innings.

Oh yea? I didn't even notice. I miss that little girl Pirates fan screaming "Let's go Pirates!" all night. I thought she was adorable, I know others were annoyed by her. But not me, I like seeing kids get so into the game like that. However, I much rather they be Braves fans. :)

Does Fredi even know what year it is?

"I wasn't in on [the instant replay] when it first started. … But one game is important, as we found out last year in that play-in game. Today [replay] helped us, and it's all about getting the play right. That's why the replay system got into effect. It's a good system." -- Gonzalez, on the team's success with instant replay Tuesday night.

Cant believe we are only 2.5 out of first place. Sadly we might remember the Banuelos trade as the trade that cost us a division title, or atleast a wild card spot.

I know it was probably discussed during the GDT, but how about Juan Uribe and gunning Mel down at home? Was that a big play or what?

Guy has been ROCK solid for us. Well, a little jiggly but otherwise kinda solid.

The transfer to me was the most impressive part. The ball was basically never in his glove.

No chance CJ makes that play as CJ barely has enough arm for third and cannot pull off a transfer like that either. Uribe has a very good arm, that is probably why he stayed at shortstop even after he got fat for so long.

BTW, speaking of CJ's arm. Have you or anyone else caught the bull from Bowman saying both Peraza and Peterson lack the arm for third? While that can be argued for Peraza, that is hardly the case for Peterson. I watched him play third for the Padres last year and his arm looked fine at third (and I'd argue it's better than CJ's arm also). I am not saying this to promote moving Peterson off second though, I am just tired of reading bull**** from Bowman.
