Four batters in the 1st inning, and 3 of them had hits and 0 runs scored. You don't see that line too often.

If it was the Cardinals you can bet your ass they would have overturned it.

Looks like we'll get to hear Chip say something about how it's never good when the opposing pitcher gets to hit in the first.

Sadly, it seems like Morton is very hittable even with the Braves lineup today. Julio has likely dug the team into too far of a hole though.

In a 1st inning where you gather 3 hits, score 0 runs, lose your only challenge until the late innings and are down 5-0 after the inning, you know it's just not your day.

It's telling to me about Atlanta's lineup that Morton has to hit the #8 hitter of all hitters in terms of retaliation for Cutch.

Maybin was safe at 3rd regardless of the ball being dropped. The ump was about to call him out, and the Braves have no challenges.

Same, we're 11th worst team right now.

Trade Jimmy Johns and Grilli, should be in the 7-10 range or so by the end of the year if regression hits the mean.

Russ Ortiz averaged 18 wins and over 200 innings per year for the Braves and people couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Might have had something to do with his ERA being close to 4

As for under appreciated Braves. #1 is Andruw hands down.

Andruw is an easy #1.

I would add Blauser to that mix too. Javy as well.

Just said he was in the running. If all you did was look at this board you would think Nick is the worst player in baseball. All he does is get hits and get on base.

blueagleace1
06-27-2015, 05:57 PM
Yep. Should get a nice return for Grilli.

I agree that we should get a nice return if he is moved. Here's my question.. Are we better off holding on to Grilli for what seems to be a decent bargain for next season ($3.5 million) and a $3 million club option for 2017? The reason I'm saying this is because A.) We don't seem to have a closer in the minors B.) the ones who could fill that role are coming off of injuries (Withrow, Viz, Simmons) C.) there aren't any viable options on the Free Agent market next offseason (both Greg Holland and Kenley Jansen become free agents in 2017)

Just another thing to consider, I would still trade him IF the return is higher than it should be.

What does everyone think? And if you do think we trade him no matter what, how/who do we get to fill closer role next year (when honestly, we should be competitive especially if we get a power hitting LF)

He stopped swinging at that sweeping curve and zeroed in on a fastball. Kid has pop in his bat.

markakis' prob is that he's got 3 years and 33 million left.

And if we had terdo out there maybe we'd be in the mix for a top 10 pick......although i'm not a big fan of the total tank idea.

Meh. almost every FA contract is bad at the end. At least it's only 11 per year. I doubt he plummets to sub 1.5 WAR per year.

We'd pick 11th if the season ended today.

And will probably trade some players, Grilli/JJ seem logical with teams always needing bullpen arms.

Should finish in the top 10 or so.

Only hitting it because Freeman is hurt

Maybe that's true, but legitimately good teams can deal with stuff like that. Remember David Justice went on the DL in our 91 season, and Freeman is a pretty similar player. I honestly just think we're in our slump and for a slightly less than mediocre team this is what you get. It's a bad slump and over due.

You know zero about player develop and I don't even know why I'm replying to this...You do realize at some point every player was in high school and most stars in the league were drafted out of high school...hopefully in the offseason we sign Price and trade for Kershaw, Bumgarner, Scherzer, Archer and Cole that would be totally awesome...also I've got my fingers crossed that we trade for Trout, Harper and Miggy...maybe we can fire Fredi and the Giants decide to fire Bochy and we can scoop him up...then we can trade Bethancourt and cash for Buster Posey...then Congress can repeal the 13th amendment and Liberty Media can hire 1000's of slaves so that the new stadium can be built in time for Opening Day next year, we host the All Star Game and sweep everyone in the playoffs on the way to a World Series win...BOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

...also if you're wondering why no one replies to you it's because everyone has you on ignore, just be happy I haven't yet I'm possibly the only person that sees your posts
