Makes sense to try. Probably will stink.

If they'll take a package including Chris Johnson in return, sure maybe we can talk. :)

2 questions
1. How much could it possibly cost to get a player who's been dfa'd?
2. Does he look better in left field then Eury Perez or Gomes?
I think the answer to 2 is a hell of a lot better

Meh... He's not very good. I would rather play Eury to see if there is any long term value there.

Agreed. Plus Eury won't cost us 4.5 million next year with a 250k buyout after next season. I rather pay my likely 4th outfielder or platoon type outfielders cheaply like we do Eury. Plus we may have to make room for Smith and/or Peraza in the outfield at some point too.

I was going to post about Tabata earlier but forgot.

This is actually the second time he has been DFA'd. Nobody bit before because of the money owed, but if Pittsburgh were chilling to chip in a little, or take back a player like Chris Johnson in a larger deal (hey, do they want Jason Grilli back?) then I wouldn't be opposed at all. I'd actually love to take a chance on Pedro Alvarez too.

He apparently spent most of this past offseason in the Mexican League working with Marlon Byrd on reacquiring his power stroke (which is ironic). At one point, he was considered a 15-20 HR guy with gap power. The Pirates were encouraged by the results out of Spring Training, but he hasn't received regular playing time in almost two years now. He's speedy, but not faster than Eury, and the two are probably equals defensively.

Might could benefit from a charge of scenery.

I am interested. If there's a significant chance that we trade Maybin, particularly so.
