@KevinMcAlpin: While Freeman would be eligible to come off the DL on July 3rd, Fredi says he’ll likely need a few extra days. No timetable. #Braves

Jeez. Didn't seem that bad, but you can't rush injuries as is.

No reason to bring him back until after the break. Nothing good can result from Freeman coming back too early.

Expecting a huge game from Kelly Johnson.

I heard a report, not attributed, on the radio that said Banuelos would be called up for game three of this series. Anyone heard a confirmation or a denial?

Dumb pitching Miller.

I hate Span against us.

Miller not having his best night already.

Yea, seems a poorly held secret if you can call it such.

There's reason to wonder if the Braves will win another game against the Nationals this season.

We have two rookies pitching the next two games so this series already looks like a lost cause.

Sweet Jesus. Joe Simpson is now lamenting the team's lack of "quick strike capability."

I was hoping AJ was jawing with that Not Simmons with the error problem while standing at 2b.

Why let this little queer Espinosa dive out over the plate!?!? Either beam him in the face or go inside

Let's start a list of players to unload ASAP...my top 3

1. Kelly Johnson
2. Juan Uribe
3. Jim Kohnson

There is nobody remaining on the roster who has the balls to do anything. Maybe CJ and AJ. Julio used to sort of do that, but he probably couldn't even hit a batter.

It looks like playing the Marlins early and often was a facade in terms of how well this team could do.

Nice debut for Jake Brigham.

Braves1976
06-30-2015, 08:06 PM
Brigham has a good slider, he seemed to overthrow it a bit that AB, but also broke off two very good ones including the swing and miss for his first strikeout.

Nice second inning, he located his fastball well after falling behind 3-0 and also threw some very good sliders to strikeout two.

Non game related, but Gattis with 4 triples already this year, let me repeat, the big guy has 4 triples already this year. Was his speed deceptive? He look like an elephant out there in left field.

Except when all is said and done. The Braves will be looking up at them in the standings.

Kelly got ahead 0-2 to Escobar to start this inning with two good cutters but everything since has been 4-seam fastballs outside of that one cutter for the DP ball. Good finish with the K but I question AJ pitch calling that inning.

AerchAngel
06-30-2015, 08:53 PM
Hmmm they strike out 15 times and score 6 runs, we k'ed 6 times and no runs.

Go figure.

Uribe homers off Carpenter again, too bad this one meant very little.

Braves1976
06-30-2015, 09:06 PM
Fredi showed Carpenter some love there, sent CJ up to pinch hit vs him (CJ is now hitting below .140 vs righties lol).

Why trade Uribe unless you think he'll bring a very good prospect back? I would extend him instead, he is hitting over .300 for us with an OPS over .800 too. Plus he is a good defender at third. It isn't easy finding what he's provided thus far at third base.

What happened?

Infield in, runner on 3rd. Hard gb to Simmons. He threw to the plate and hung the runner up dead-to-rights, then AJ short-armed the rundown throw into RF.

Between third base and home AJ threw the ball into right field?

I know Christian Bethancourt has some issues he needs to work on with his defense at AAA, but dang! I've seen enough defensive miscues from AJ, who is a vet, to believe Atlanta needs to let Christian work on his defensive issues and focus in Atlanta and not Gwinnett.

I think right now, teams that will be in contention are going to be calling Atlanta about Jason Grilli, Jim Johnson, Cameron Maybin, and Kelly Johnson first and foremost.

I don't think anyone ever said we would be a good team without Freeman. I bet we finish with an above .500 record in games he plays and are like 5-15 without him.

I'm curious to see who the big suitors for Jason Grilli are going to be. I wonder if LA would give up Zach Lee and Zach Bird for him.

it would almost be worth it to take whatever they offer just so we can stop the grilled cheese crap and stop acting like he is Kimbrel

Fans need something in a rebuilding year... wouldn't get all bent out of shape about it..and taking "whatever we can get" is a terrible idea.

I suspect this post was pretty TIC though.

There were a few. The team is still a below average team with Freeman. It's pathetic without him. You can't expect everyone to play 162.

Kind of ironic that Miller had a "regression to the mean" game whilest k'ing 2 per inning.
