A bit surprised to see Uribe sitting today. He can definitely use a day off (and Ciriaco needs to play), but you'd think Juan would be the guy you want in there with the other lefty-mashers against Hamels if you're really trying to stay hot and in the playoff conversation.

AJ is certainly durable he's in there almost every game. Pretty surprising for a 38 year old catcher. Day game after a night game most 28 year old catchers sit.

Ciriaco just missed a grand slam. They need to get on Cole early, so the Phillies will wilt again.

Remarkably inept day of offense by two bad teams today. Bottom of the 8th a real piece of work.

Someone will win on a walk, sacrifice, wild pitch and an error, or some variation of such.

Why can't we let the results decide that. Instead of just running a white flag up. Way too early to be writing these guys off. Might not be the best Braves team ever but definitely most resilient.

Carp would've gave him a homer off his slider (NLDS vs Dodgers) and his best 96 mph fastball (Braves vs Nationals recently). At least that is his track record vs Uribe. :)

Yea, I have been calling for his release for a while now. He can take Eveland with him, I was in favor of signing Eveland given our needs at the time. But now I am ready to move on from him too.

Hopefully Viz and some others replace them soon.

Seriously, what the hell is Fredi supposed to do. If we had just used AAradsma instead of Massett..a are you kidding me? He has two guys (Johnson and Grilli) you can count on, so he uses them. What the hell else is he going to do?

Totally wasn't Fredi's fault. Just noting that Masset is bad at baseball. Gotta call up Viz. At least he has potential so the struggles would have some purpose.

His curveball looked very good for the most part a few games with Mississippi but his last game in Rome and his first game in Gwinnett he was having some issues with it. So I can see saying it needs some work, esp. if you're going by those two games alone. But if you go by the two before in Mississippi you'd think he was ready. I didn't see today's game so I cannot say how good it looked today. I'll try to review via my MILB.tv account later today's game when they archive it.

That was fast and also good to see Carpenter coming up too. I figured we'd see Carpenter at some point but I wasn't sure when, he has MLB experience with the Angels and has been great with Gwinnett this year. Now we can tell folks David Carpenter is a Brave again and mess with them. :)

OK, I have one question, you had a decently quick person at 3B a slow as heck guy at 1B with one out, you had Ciriaco a player with better than average speed, but a part time player who had been 0 for 3 up to that point. Why would you not call for a safety squeeze pushing the ball to 1B side to try and score that winning run? It is not as though Ciriaco is a power guy you expect to hit a deep fly ball.......

If he can keep getting ground balls with his sinker he could do well here with our up the middle defense. He hasn't allowed a homer yet this year either. He doesn't have a big fastball, so he won't wow you on the radar gun but he has had a lot of success in Gwinnett with his sinker and slider this year. He doesn't throw his slider for a strike much but it's a good strikeout pitch.
