Watched the Carolina game and I must say that's the best I've seen Sims throw. Hitting his spots, repeating his mechanics and all of his pitches were effective.

Couple other things to note from the Carolina game:

1.) All the talk (and rightfully so) is on Peraza and Albies but Johan Camargo is going to be good. Kid is extremely smooth at SS (reminds me of a young Andrelton) and handles the bat fairly well.

2.) Like the stuff (power arm) that Richie Tate possess which could eventually make him a late-inning reliever.

3.) Connor Lien is underrated.

4.) Finally, don't give up on Sims. He showed me tonight why he's a Top 100 prospect.

His stats have gotten better each year. Still Ks quite a bit and doesn't walk much, but he's put himself on the radar. He was an above-slot signing back in 2012.

Yeah, going to need some time in AAA at the beginning of next year for a bit most likely.

No way, people here were hyping him up as a top prospect. He is a 4th Ofer or lower division starter for me.

I agree that Lien is underrated. Great tools.

Mississippi just scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the game at 10. WOW.

10-run 3rd inning for the M-Braves, which ties the game at 10-10 after 3.

I guess I'm the mimic! I've been told I've never had an original thought.

Connor is a toolsy guy. He really struggled in short season ball but started putting some things together last year. He has had 571 at bats over the last year and a half. He has 161 hits with 32 doubles, 5 triples, and 10 home runs to go along with 38 stolen bases. The biggest issue is 162 strike outs to 36 walks. He can really run and profiles as a center fielder right now.

What? Trailing 10-0 and having a 10-run inning? Happens all the time!

Barbosa went from near-perfect to near-useless.

Matt Marksbury leapfrogged Mississippi and is now in the Gwinnett bullpen doing a nice job. Looked at his splits and he is murder on LHH. Could be a LOOGY in training. Good to see a leap like this. His performance was fairly nondescript up to this point in his career, but things can come together fairly quickly for pitchers. His control numbers have improved markedly.

I like Josh Graham so far. Totally box score scouting, but he's up to 19/3 K/BB in Danville. Only 3 ER in 15.1 IP.

Yeah, the way he pulls back during the pitch has got to go or at least be reduced. He needs to clean that up while in AAA.

Yah... he's young for AAA and this is the first time he's ever struggled, not to mention good prospects never struggle at any stop... so obviously he's a 4th OFer.

It’s a known fact that players always, always hit their ceilings in the first 15 games at AAA. Look it up.

More generally, I would say it is a good thing to start the season with good players in AAA, our "second bench." I would like to see guys like Smith, Peraza and Castro in AAA at the start of next season. There are service time considerations that argue for this. More importantly, there is a lot of variance in player performance from year to year. Maybin is doing very well this year, but maybe he regresses next year. We don't know which of Smith, Peraza or Castro will take a step forward in 2016. Maybe they all do. Maybe none do. Maybe just one. Jace Peterson has had a fine rookie season, but he is not a sure thing either. The best protection against this uncertainty is to have as many options as possible.

I think we'll bring in a new player for left. But it is good to have guys like Smith for depth.

You may very well be right. But the cost in terms if trade chips and/or dollars for a player that’s better than, say, a potential (yeah, yeah, I know) .290 with 15 homers and 20 steals is going to be way, way high, and might better be spent at catcher, third, or on an ace. Although I, personally, would settle for some combination of Uribe and K Johnson at third if we can improve the other two. Catcher, especially, is going to be pricy.

Dakota Dill (remember that name!) had it last year. This is his recovery year. They will move him fast next year.

He's killing LHH this year. Curious to see how they let him develop. Doesn't have to go on the 40-man this winter, so no rush to bring him up.
