Sorry I missed this, but Jesus Jones was released by the Braves following his June 25th appearance -- which, ironically, was his only win of the year. For the year, he was 1-1, 8.22 ERA with one save in seven games.

Good to see Dustin Peterson have a good night. That bus crash really set him back.

If he develops some extra base power watch out.

If he develops some extra base power watch out.

Yup...looking at top 10 prospect status at that point.

Connor Lien in his last 10 games: .361/.429/.667, 13 H, 2 2B, 3 HR, 4 BB, 7 SO

This is a 5 tool player who is starting to play up to his tools. Right now, most have him rated in the 20s among the Braves top prospects. If he keeps this up, he's looking at least at the 10-15 area as a prospect if not top 10. In his last 54 ABs, he's hitting .333/.422/.537, and this is with the defensive ability to stay in center field.

He already pretty much has some extra base power, at least at that level. 26 XBH in 342 AB is not bad, and even without a HR his ISO is now right at .100.

Lien has strange splits. Destroys LHPs with power(.644 slugging %) but against RHP he has a .379 slugging %.

I'm thinking Lien has figured something out. Always thought he had the potential to be one of our better prospects so I hope he continues this pace as he is still really young. He could be a heck of a nice surprise in the next couple of years.

This is the kind of power I want from him. Like a lot of speedy, contact guys, I worry if he starts hitting HRs he'll try to hit them which will erode his making contact. I'm more than happy with him slapping balls down lines and splitting gaps.

Yup, homers are counterproductive for a lot of players.

Good point. The question with Albies is whether he can maintain that as he moves up. That's what makes him an elite prospect. With other prospects, the question is whether they can develop various attributes as they move up. With an elite guy, all they need to do is maintain what they are doing (while young for their level) as they move up.

Last year Albies had 11 extra base hits in 239 plate appearance. This year he has 26 in 381 plate appearances. So the extra base power is starting to come.

Reports of Albies is that while he is short he is very well built. I think that is a good sign for the future in that he will continue to mature and build strength.

He's got the ability (at low-A) to drive the ball into the gap. His swing is compact and his hands are crazy fast. I would be surprised if he didn't maintain that ability . . . even as the pitching improves, he'll continue to add strength.
