In his first three games, Soroka has gone 7 innings with 2 hits, zero walks and six strikeouts.

Both he and Allard are 17. The Braves have made a point of drafting players who are young for their draft class (both high school and college players) the past couple of years.

Btw Allard tweeted that he threw his first bullpen a couple days ago.

We may be able to throw out the GCL team's record. Always nice to win games, but win-or-lose, that might be the best set of prospects we've had in the GCL for quite a long time. Interesting to see how they all develop.

It really is an exciting group. Quite a few guys who are just 17 and most of them are more than holding their own. One of them we haven't mentioned is Alan Rangel, a right-handed pitcher from Mexico. Except for one bad outing, he's done quite well. I think you have to give a lot of credit to the international guys who have skipped the DSL and moved to a new country and made the adjustment so quickly while generally competing against guys a year or two older. It speaks highly to their talent.

I'll take it. Touki ever get his delivery down to some semblance of consistency, he'll be untouchable. And I mean untouchable. You have to see him to see that curveball. WOW. I've not been that impressed by a curveball since...well, it's nice. If Allard's is anywhere close, we're going to have two studs in the rotation down the line. His changeup is very inconsistent. But it's just enough to keep the batter honest. One guy swung at a ball that was at least two feet outside simply because of Touki's arm motion and the offspeed pitch.

That's not the case with all of them, but the latin players in particular tend to be aggressive early in the count.

Some guy: I don't know if he was affiliated with a FO or not, but we were talking at the game and he said he heard that the Braves/D-backs set a dangerous precedent. I told him that if a club is dumb enough to sell off a prospect like Touki, the ridicule doesn't reside with the receiving team, but the team that completed the deal. We both agreed that talking Touki down made Stewart/LaRussa look totally clueless.

The Toussaint trade reminds me of the Smoltz trade. We got him while he was still in the minors from a clueless team. I think he said he didnt even have a pitching coach when he was with Detroit.

14 hits is dang impressive. Just reel in that control but he is pretty young.

I think Justin Ellison is a prospect that bears watching. Very, very athletic. He was timed from home to first at 3.69 seconds. He hit 20+ HRs at Western Oklahoma State.
