View Full Version : 100 wins possible?

I think everyone out there would admit we play better at home than on the road, But the Braves 30-30 road record is pretty decent I'd say. The other thing is I believe in my perusing only the Cardinals have played more road games than the Braves. After this series with an at worst 68-47 record, we'll have only 20 more road games. If we go say 2 games under .500 in those games we'd be 77-58 with our remaining 29 games to go. our current home record would have us at 20 or 21 wins in those games having us fall just shy. Now that's why I threw that 2 games under qualifier, if we can play .500 ball the rest of our road games and just one game over our current home stretch, we may be able to pull 100. Of course to more realistically do it, we would need to play better on the road than that because sustaining a .717 home win% is not gonna be remotely easy.

I don't care about 100 wins. I justt want one more win than the team with the second most wins in the league.

Currently, we are the best team in the NL.

We look really good but in a playoff series its going to be tough to matchup with them. Their starting pitching is deeper and slightly better than ours.

That could chnage depending on Beachy though.

This.

Kershaw/Greinke/Ryu/Nolasco is really tough in a playoff series.

If we keep up this winning streak by my count we'll break the record for single season.

And it could change cause their offense right now is entirely dependent on Puig and HanRam who're playing out of their mind. What makes us dangerous is we have 3 guys who still have a lot of room to grow to their expected level of production. Bossman has an insane amount of room to potentially explode. Simmons still has some more to grow.

Dodgers offense could go cold come post season and having a SP that only lets up 1 run doesn't do much good if you can't score.

Dodgers also have Adrian and Kemp who at any point could go off. Yes, Kemp is hurt and we don't know if he will be healthy but if you can play the "if" game then so can I.

Adrian has been good all season long.

You are right on Kemp however.

At the end of the day, it comes down to pitching. Dodgers rotation is really tough in a short series. Not sure anyone outside of Washington has the starters to match them.

A-Gon is hitting right around his career norms. wouldn't say he can "go off" at any point any more than I'd say Mac or Justin can just go off.

Kemp you never know,

You know what? Screw it, I do want 100 wins. I'm not saying we should start Teheran on three days rest to make it happen, but while we've been a good team the last few years we haven't really been an elite sort of team since...gosh, 2004? 2003?

So, yeah, gimme 100. We're going to re-gain our position atop the division, we might has well rewind the clock to the 90's as much as possible.

Personally, I dont' need a 100 win season. I want to be the last team on the field holding up a championship trophy. This organization needs that more than a 100 win season.

Don't really care about that though.

32-17

Which is well above our season average win% but that's why I broke it down home vs away. With more home than away games left with our ability to play at home, who knows.

gonna be really hard. i figure we'll see a four game losing streak as soon as this current winning streak ends to get things back in line. that's the way they've been going and i don't see why that would change now.

That number looks crazy gaudy, but then I remember the 2001 Mariners were only one win shy of that... geez, that team was dominant! But even that team lost to the Yankees, so I'll take an inferior record and a hot team headed into the postseason any day over 100+ wins and an early playoff exit. Had plenty of those during the streak, anyway.

Dunit24

So we have to go 32-17?

Yeah its very possible, but I doubt it bc once we clinch the division, doubt we will win enough to get 100.

Our toughest road trip left is at St Louis in a few weeks.

That said, I'm sure we'll have a 4-6/3-7 skid at some point.

Dodgers are better.

Much better rotation, pens are close.

Cards lineup is better however.

What rotation do you take in a playoff series.

Greinke, Kershaw, Ryu, Nolasco or Waino, Miller, Lynn, Westbrook.

Nice stats though.

The thing is though that the Dodgers have improved their rotation as the year has moved on. So the aggregate numbers of the year don't really capture what they are now. Sure, its close but itt doesn't account for everything.

I keep hoping that the Pirates keep on rolling, and the Cardinals have to fight just to make it in.

...and if they get screwed over in the Wild Card game, well, I wouldn't exactly be shedding any tears. :icon_biggrin:

So yeah, it's the Dodgers I'm more worried about. They have plenty of time to cool down and slump, but then again, so do the Braves.

One thing that is pretty cool is that we won the season series with the Pirates and Dodgers. Pretty good chance we win the season series against the Cardinals as long as we win 1 out of the last 4. I think if the teams are tied its a head to head record for home field.

Subtracting the 30 would still leave them with the best run differential.

I'd say 2003 was our last truly elite team. The 2004 team was great, and the 2nd best team in the league, but I consider 100 wins the bench mark for being an elite team.

Toot your horns, folks! The Braves have blown this thing wide open. There were a few bumps in the road, but in the end, nothing could de-rail the Braves train. Pardner, if you'd told me back in Spring Training the the Braves would win the series, I'd never Bolivia. What a display of powder—er, power!
