All other Major League baseball talk goes here.

As of today the playoffs would be Pirates, Braves, Diamondbacks, Cardinals, and Reds. The last two would be in the single game playoff. Red Sox, Athletics, Tigers, Rangers, and Orioles would be the American League teams.

Are these the ten best teams in baseball right now?

The Tigers are doing just what they did last year. Let everyone hang around in the AL Central and then the last month of the season take off and win the division.

Beltran has been such a steal for the Cards. God knows if we had signed him for 2/26, he'd have been injured for half the time and/or batting .200 and deemed "washed up." We'd then let him go after this season, because, you know, he batted .200 with 10 homers and is old. Then he'd sign for 1yr/6mil and dominate.

Two words for Licecum...Johan Santana.

People say that but when Edwin Jackson threw 149 pitches in his no-no against the Rays when he was with the Diamondbacks he was fine after that. Also people keep bringing up the Santana situation and that was totally different. Santana was only a few starts back from major shoulder surgery and was still not 100% yet and that's the reason throwing that many pitches in 1 game all but ended his career. Lincecum has never had any sort of arm issues, at least none that I'm aware of. He should be fine. The Giants would be smart to give him a couple extra days of rest and with the ASG coming up they have the luxury to do that.

I don't know if Lincecum is 'back' but he does have a 3.34 FIP right now on the year which is pretty good. Obviously the era is not that good but his left on base % is fairly low from when he was winning cy youngs. So I'm thinking there is a play of bad luck in there right now. His K/9, BB/9, and HR/9 are all just slightly off from his career marks. I don't think he's going to be the guy we saw in 08 and 9 where he was the best pitcher in baseball but he's pitching a lot better than last year and feel he can still be very good.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Cubs are asking teams for their "last and best offers" on right-hander Matt Garza.
In fact, teams believe that Garza will be traded before he throws another pitch for the Cubs. As of now, he's slated to make his next start on Monday against the Diamondbacks. Olney hears that the Rangers are in the middle of the trade talks, though teams like the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Pirates, Indians, and Dodgers are also reportedly in the mix

I was reading the Dallas Morning News site yesterday and they were throwing around the idea of acquiring Stanton. It may require them to trade Profar, which actually makes some sense. Since they really don't have a place for him since they extended Andrus. Plus, if Nelson Cruz gets a suspension for the Biogensis case, then they would really need a big bat. Don't overlook that Prado is really smacking the ball around now. His OPS is over 700 now (closing in on the amazing Justin Upton). He has an OPS of 945 in July.

All I am going to say is thank God for Chris Johnson.

They very well may be, but 1 year of Prado got us 3 years of Justin. That's pretty much always a win.

No....1 year of Prado + 5+ years of Delgado got us 3 years of Upton and maybe 2 years out of Johnson.

This is not a Tehearn vs Delgado debate because I'm happy with kept Teheran but Delgado was a fine pitcher in his own right.

Martin Prado is exactly the type of hitter this team needs. Who knew that Chipper Jones words would have been prophetic.

We're what 9 games clear of first place, 5 games better than last year with Prado and Chipper.

The sucking of the Braves has been greatly exaggerated.

That's with the real player we are missing from last year (not Prado or Chipper, but Bourn)

The Braves haven't sucked and Upton was otherworldly in April. If he was just a 750-800 OPS guy since that point in time the Braves would have been 12-15 games up. He has been dreadful and you still haven't said anything about your ridiculous comment of a natural correction. I know you are waiting for Upton to hit again and I think he will at some point but you have to admit there is room for concern.

We won that deal. Upton has been awful lately, but he's the biggest reason we started off smoking. Most of our lead is due to that hot start. He has been valuable. He's struggled on O and D lately, but I think he'll be good. CJ has been pretty good.

I miss Prado. I think he signed a fair extension. But it appears the braves didn't think he was worth that money. So we would have lost him after this year. Delgado is a good pitcher....but I don't think he'll be above a 4 for a playoff team. Valuable piece, no doubt, but the Braves seem to generate that type of pitcher almost yearly.

If I had my magic wand I'd keep Prado. I still think he's a 2B, that's his best D spot and where you maximize his value.

Going forward we need to get a Prado-type hitter in the line up. No idea where that person fits in. As much as Uggla has hit HRs, LaStella could be that guy. But we'll probably have to package uggla with a stud like Kimbrel to open it up.

We also need Simmons to go back to last year's approach and not try to hit a HR every time.

Oh lord, now you're saying we should of kept Prado over JUp?

Cubs shopping Samardijza.

Not sure what we could give them for him.

Yeah but we'd have a bigger lead if he hasn't completely sucked since that hot start. I can't fathom how he only has 16 homers. That's pathetic when you consider what he did in April. And he looks awful at the dish. I'm concerned, big time.
