I hope he doesn't have a dental practice on the side.

Another big fly for Isranel. I'm wondering if this is will be his walk-up music as he advances through the system.

Bethancourt with another double. He's making it hard to keep him at AAA.

FF with a k and a throwing error

I know that Olivera did well in his short milb stint earlier this year. still, if he hasn't been seeing live pitching since the 2013-14 Cuban season, it really may take him a while to get up to speed.

I say this as someone who is far more aligned with the skeptic's camp: everyone, give the guy some time to get his feet under him before judging who he is and what he might be against major-league competition.

I'm getting pissed that Bethancourt isn't in Atlanta in a throw away season.

Smith and Bethancourt both providing reasons to believe they could be useful major leaguers.

Yeah, I don't think we can really take much away from this season for Olivera as far as what kind of hitter he'll be. If he comes up and struggles then, as you said, he's got a ton of rust and is adjusting to the majors. If he comes up and tears the cover off the ball you can't take much away because the league wont have time to really adjust.

The one thing I have taken away from this season is that health is likely to be a constant struggle with Olivera. The guy has barely played at all because of this hamstring injury and that is on top of the health question marks he had. I don't expect him to average more than 120 games a season for the Braves.

Yup. Super slow start in AAA but has been raking again of late.
Over AA and AAA this year, he's hitting .310 with a .764 OPS and 24 XBH (including 15 since being bumped up to AAA)(so very close to Eury Perez's 2012 /s). I think we can definitely expect his BA at AAA to come up a good bit before the end of the season. He's definitely showing he may have something.

Would be sweet to have a guy like Billy Hamilton that can actually hit a little bit.

He's doesn't have quite the speed of Hamilton but his speed is very comparable to Dee Gordon. About 3.8 seconds home to 1st base.

Please, please, please give Glavine the rest of the MiLB season off and send him to work with him and Allard on pitch selection, control, and their changeups!!!

I'm not sure Glavine would be the best choice for this. His style was completely different than they styles of those two. I'd rather just let them pitch the way they pitch best.

JEEEZ.

Not a front line starter my hind end.

He's the perfect example as to why, especially for guys in the low minors, scouting can be more important than stats. If he can gain command of his mid-90s fastball to go along with that curve at any point in the next few years, that's all he needs to become a successful pitcher. If he gains a solid third pitch as well, the sky is the limit.
