Initially read that as Olivera's Sphincter; premise still seemed entirely plausible.

Bethancourt was taken out of the game. I wonder what that is about.

The Braves have a lot of prospects who have stuff that is nearly un-hittable at times but is very walk happy.

Why would that lead to him being pulled out of a game early?

So no freak injury happened maybe?

Why would that lead to him being pulled out of a game early?

The Braves scouts and roving pitching instructors typically do an excellent job of making small mechanics tweaks that improve the control a pitcher has. With that said, they are also very known for letting the player do what is comfortable to him and making just minor tweaks.

Of course, Frank Wren and Jeff Wren damn near wrecked Julio Teheran's career by getting him to make some drastic mechanics changes when he was in AAA back in 2011.

Check which post of yours I was replying to.

This response was bizarre enough to crack me up, so touche.

The way the Braves have handled Bethancourt continues to be a major sore spot in what has otherwise been a very successful season for the team in the player development arena.

True. However, it's becoming painfully evident that Sims is going to HAVE to make bigger adjustments. If he doesn't, he becomes Folty-Lite (without the plus-plus fastball). His K/BB Rate is now down to a career-low 1.42. Striking out 10.8 batters per 9 is great, but doesn't matter if you're handing out 8 free passes (7.6).

I agree, but that usually works itself out over time. Which he has plenty of....

I remember this about Kimbrel coming up. Not that he is the norm or anything.
