It's what the stat minded folk said would happen, his ERA would come close to his FIP and that's basically what happened.

Which means we hate him and are crying about Heyward

Well, I am still crying about Heyward. I consider logic and emotion to be 2 different things.

It's sports. It's rarely 2 different things in this context.

Miller has thrown a ton of pitches this year and Gonzalez sends him out for the 6th.

I think one thing Miller will work on for next year is a better out pitch. He's gassed.

Winkler and Burhaha looked good. Winkler seems to throw a rising fastball at 87 (not quite like Kimbrel's at 97).

How much do Winkler's pitches move?

Looks like his fastball takes off/moves just when it reaches the batter. The Mets batters were striking out with the look on their faces "I should have hit that 87-90 mph fastball, but ..."

Two K's and a walk, and dinged an umpire with his first pitch...a great debut by the Fonz.

Kinda like Cody Martin.

Well, let's hope his fastballs don't rise all the way out of the park like Cody's seem to do.

Both will always be vulnerable to the long ball. But both will also generate a good strikeout rate. And for both the key will be the walk rate. With a low walk rate, the damage from the long balls will be generally acceptable.

Winkler's off-speed stuff might be a little better, which will help with keeping hitters off the fastball.

Hopefully the deception in his delivery and limited exposure coming out of the 'pen will make him a little more survivable than Cody.

He also showed he can strikeout lefties, good start vs them at least giving us hope that he can be more than a ROOGY. If so then that would make a comp to Moylan not really valid as Moylan is a true ROOGY.
