Atlanta has lost only two home series all year:

3 out of 5 to New York
2 out of 3 to Miami

Let's not make this a trend to lose at home to the lowly (yet young and improving) Fishies.

Gary82

Don't expect the team to keep up its torrid pace. There'll probably be a cool down phase.

After the Braves won 15 in a row in 2000, they went 4-6 in their next 10 games.
After winning 13 in a row in 1992, 5-5
And after starting the year winning 13 in a row in 1982, 4-6

Despite losing the streak I cant say I am disappointing by winning 2/3. Thats the goal of every 3 game series, sweeps are just gravy on top.

I'm gone for 1 day and you guys only make 9 pages GDT?

I'm going to fire you all and send you back to the motherland where you will be breastfed with rich nutrients and intellect by mother Patio and father Jerry.

When you're not around we don't feel pressured to post here constantly. We're free to do what we want, so we went back to scout for the day and got their GDT to 20 pages.

I tried to remain limited today because honestly, I have a wife and a dog. I don't want Patio and/or Jerry hunting me down.

That and Uggla and BJ have got to be the two most frustrating players on this planet.

Good win today.

I don't get on Fredi much but why use Avilan with a four run lead. Downs/Varvaro/Ayala can get the final six outs.

Especially with Walden out a few more days.

Fredi hasn't met a lefty reliever that he won't use everyday...even off days...

Sadly true, was hoping with Downs he would lessen his workload, of course not...

LOL at the old veteran telling the story about the smell of burning skin during the game. You don't hear that everyday.

I'll bet everyone in his family watching was saying "Oh grandpa, please, not that story again!"

Actually the site was unavailable to me all day yesterday, for some unknown reason. Much like Dish not broadcasting the game cuz they have their pants in a wad, even tho I'm paying the assholes to see the games.

Since June 3rd Jason Heyward has just ripped it up.

I just don't understand how Uggla just continues to get a free pass with this team. He's one of the worst all around players in baseball right now and we are in the middle of a pennant race.

Keep in mind, Uggla and Fredi have a father and son type relationship. So as long as Fredi is here we might not even look to trade Uggla.

Sadly, somewhat true.

But it's going to be near impossible to trade him.

Will be 34 next year, and 25 million owed. Worse contracts have been traded but Frank would have to eat a lot to move him. May not be worth it.

There's nothing somewhat about what I stated, IMO. They are like father and son and I only stated that they "might not" look to move him. I didn't say it wasn't possible or totally rule it out. I simply don't see Fredi supporting trading Uggla given their relationship, etc. Plus there's the issue of contract that effects consideration.

95 National Leaguers have at least 300 plate appearances. 88 of them have fewer Home Runs than Dan Uggla. 91 of them have fewer walks. Translated: He is 7th in the NL in homers and 4th in walks. Those things have value.

Yeah, his batting average is horrendous, but it simply does not tell the whole story. Then you add the fact that he is a great base runner and plays solid defense (and yeah I know what the defensive metrics say), you have a player with value--not as much as his contract calls for certainly, but unless you can show me an available 2B who would contribute more to the Braves winning THIS season, I vote we roll with Uggla.

Yep. Goes back to their Florida days. Uggla was only going into his 2nd MLB season when Fredi got hired.

Braves1976

Uggla is actually having one of his worst seasons defensively. He's now equaled his worst at -15 DRS (defensive runs saved) on the year. But time and time again Simmons, Freeman and our great pitching picks him up. This last game is a perfect example of that, where he makes a two base error to start an inning. But thanks to great pitching the runner was stranded at second base.

Now Uggla did have a good season defensively last year. But when it counted in the Wild Card game he was bad fitting more his track record.

I completely understand that he will be almost impossible to trade. All I'm asking is that come September, if/when he's still playing like this....we need to field our best team in a pennant race. Period. Wren needs to go and get a strong backup that can take over if needed.

As posted above, he draws a lot walks, has power, plays decent defense, has value, not totally useless like you claim.

You can't have an All Star at every spot.

And who could we get that's better, I'd like to hear this.
