Blair first. But both have a good chance to be in the 2017 rotation.

I think we'll see Folty first. I think Williams Perez's is dangling by a thread and we all know the odds of a thread holding him for long. I think they move Perez to the pen fairly soon and move Folty up to the rotation. They'll leave Blair in AAA for now because they don't want to start his clock.

I imagine will see a lot of arms shuttling between Gwinett and the big club. Considerations of workload, service time, health, and effectiveness are going to necessitate that, I think.

I'm ready to see Folty get a shot, but only when his endurance is back.

Definitely Blair. Fredi basically even promised him that.

initially I thought Folty would be the first call up.. but I am now leaning more towards Blair. Like above, Perez is dangling by a thread.. I think two or three more starts before he is shuffled off to the pen or demoted and one of those two are called up. Folty just still isn't able to pitch deep and when he gets in trouble can't escape.

I'm hoping they'll audition guys based on a combination of their readiness and their roster situation . . .

Perez, Weber, Kelly: I assume all are just viewed as placeholders and depth plays as it relates to the rotation.

Folty, Gant, Jenkins, Banuelos: IMO, these guys deserve the first shot to show what they have in the rotation once they show a month or two of success at AAA. All are on the 40-man. Gant has used one option year, Folty and Jenkins two, Banuelos four.

Blair, Sims, Whalen: Need to be added to the 40-man this offseason or be exposed to the Rule 5. Really shouldn't burn an option on these guys this year. If they come up, we need to be sure they'll stay up.

Newcomb, Ellis, Povse: Don't need 40-man protection in the 2016-2017 offseason. We need to be stingy with 40-man spots. Would prefer these three stay in the minors all year.

Blair will stay up for good once he's called up. Same for Sims once he's eventually ready.

That's pretty bold considering it's a pretty strong rotation at Gwinnett and Mississippi.

Good article and scouting report on Morales: http://www.talkingchop.com/2016/4/19/11451974/scouting-the-farm-jonathan-morales-scouting-report-braves

Here's some highlights from the report:

"Overall, he has the makings of a really good defensive catcher with the tools he possesses and the fact that he seems to command the respect of his staffs."

"Herbert may have the higher ceiling with his defensive skills, leadership, and pop, but there is no question in our minds that Jonathan Morales' ceiling may not be much lower and he is the more advanced player at this point. He is currently one of the hottest players in the Braves' system and before long, he could move up quickly in a system that is really rather devoid of real catching prospects."

Doesn't matter. Those are guys you call up based on their own timetable...meaning you don't call them up until they're ready and you let them figure it out at the major league level beyond that.

If our plan is to improve going into next year and then compete starting in 2018, that will be largely dependent on young pitching. That means you have to let these guys start getting their lumps before then. If they're ready, more time at AAA does them no good.

I see it is now Ozzie Albies in the box score.

Newcomb just gave up his first hit in the 4th. Blair is pitching out of his mind right now, 7 ip, 0 hits, 1 bb, 10 K

I hope so. Ruiz was highly regarded when we got him last year.

Blair out of the game after going 7 innings of no hit ball. Man that trade looks better and better while Miller is still winless.

Part of me wishes they could have left Blair in, but the future is much more important. Plus, it has to leave him with a great feeling and confidence boost. Too bad it wasn't the first game of a minor league double header. Then, it would have been a short game no no.

Miller could win his next 20 starts and I still think we come out ahead on the trade. It's all about the future, and the future is bright

Rio Ruiz is certainly looking like a legit hitter. Saw him once so far. Very confident and he looks the part now. I'd love it if becomes our 3B for a while. We can worry about Riley, hopefully (Maitan) in the future.

Dustin Peterson with another homer today... would be huge if he could come on strong. Also, really starting to get interested in Weigel... another solid start tonight... and from scouting reports, sounds like he can really throw the gas near 100. And his control doesn't seem like its been quite as big of an issue as feared yet.

I said it in the main thread, but this system is stacked, and incredible. We have the chance to have a really solid lineup and rotation within the next year or two.

We finally have enough depth to start transitioning some of these guys to the pen. Folty is unhittable in short bursts - he should be the first candidate IMO. He could be awesome in a shutdown role. Just think there's a far better chance he could ultimately be successful as one - think Kelvin Herrera.

no rush IMO.. let him say in AAA as a starter this year... if he does no better, then transition him either towards the end of this year or start of next.

I can't wait to see the Mid season updates. We will dominate the list if kids keep projecting like this. Allard still hasn't even thrown yet..

He doesn't freaking walk people. Every pitcher we expected to be good has been very solid so far, but they walk the other team's lineup consistently.

Newcomb has been insanely good for 4 innings then he walks two guys and the runs happen.

There was a strong hint about Blair's potential from his performance last year in the hitter-happy Pacific Coast League.

This year he is doing even better. Some of that is the difference between the IL and PCL. Some of it is a young pitcher continuing to develop.
