Touki will build on a strong start and go 6.2 innings of 4 hit ball with 2 BB and 7Ks.. 1 or 2 ER.. Rome will Squash the Crawdads 10-3.. Riley will go deep once and Morales will be 2-4 with 1BB..Acuna will also have a big fly.

Touki through 4 now. Still no runs, 3 hits, one BB, one HBP, and 2 Ks. Did a good job escaping after a leadoff double and HBP.

nothing like a sac fly double play at home to get Touki out of the 4th still up 1-0....

only thing more exciting would be if it was on opening day to end the game against your big rivals.. but that would never happen right..

After getting a pop out and a K in the 5th, Touki gave up a single followed by a HR. He rallied to K the next batter. He's through 5 now, 2 R (both earned), 5 H, 1 HR, 1 BB, 4 Ks.

Acuna continue to impress with a triple, single and stolen base so far today. Now hitting .301. Only 18.

1 BB and 1 HBP.. they pulled him after 5 innings and only 70 something pitches. Really taking it easy with him. But still a good start to build on after his previous start. I was hoping for one more inning out of him. and I forgot it is only a 7 inning game.

Touki through after 5. Gave up the dinger, but only walked one while striking out 4. I don't like the 41/31 strike-to-ball ratio, but has 2-2 on the GO/AO. Baby steps.

Touki is definitely still learning how to pitch. He's got an enormous ceiling but he could take a very, very long time to get here.

man.. Caicedo can't close it out for Touki... he got himself in trouble with a throwing error on a bunt that put runners on 2nd and 3rd w/ no outs.. but got a grounder to get the guy out at home.. a K to make it 2 outs.. then a single to allow the tying run to score.. man.. tough luck..

Acuna with another steal to set that up. why they pitched to Morales is beyond me.

But Rome has been playing much better lately. Can't wait for Allard to get there...

His defense in center is supposed to be pretty good. Imo he's one of three position prospects in our farm system with a good chance to be an above average ML regular. Oz and Swanny being the other two.

I read an article that said Allard will likely start in June but that it will be at Danville. That's interesting, but hopefully they're just planning to have him there for 2-3 starts and then move him to Rome, assuming everything looks good.

I found it interesting that Yepez was held back even though he did pretty well during his time in the Appy League last year. I suspect the reason is they want him to go back to playing third, which is being held down by Riley in Rome. Yepez might be a better prospect than Riley. He's a year younger.

yeah.. tough day for him.. looks like defense wasn't his friend either.

Minter made his Rome debut with a perfect inning.. threw 8 pitches, 7 for strikes.. very good start.

I watched the Mississippi game tonight. I thought Ellis didn't have his best stuff but did a great job making it work until a two-out 0-2 change-up (third in a row after batter swung and missed on first two, one too many I'd say). Ellis ended up going 5.2, 4 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 5 K. I'd argue that the umps inconsistent and missed strike three call cost Ellis his last inning. But the ump had a tight zone all night while also being inconsistent at times both ways. Roney in the 9th got cheated on a missed strike the first walk and the second walk came about after what should've been strike three called to end it (even opposing announcers thought so, so I'm not blind lol). Regardless Roney got the next batter to pop out for a save and 3-2 win for Ellis and the M-Braves.

Swanson had another good game as stated above, homie looks like he knows what he's doing whether at the plate, in the field or running the bases. Kid has really impressed me, looks like a future All-Star in MLB to me. Astudillo had a good game, another CS for second game in a row (at a key time too) and 2-4 with an RBI. Hursh had 1.1 scoreless and has his ERA down to 3.38, worth noting because he started pretty bad this year. He has been good while pitching multiple innings for a good stretch and has only given up one run in his last 9 games. Not a bad turnaround, hopefully it continues. Kinman also had another scoreless 8th tonight. I like him and Roney a lot.

Every time I watch Swanson I wonder what D-backs GM Stewart was thinking including him in the Miller trade.

I still can't believe that trade happened. Blair is already pitching better in the majors than Miller is, and we also get Swanson and Inciarte. What the heck.

Stewart and La Russa are obviously weirdos, but I think Coppy also played that situation perfectly. He watched them go after Fernandez an saw the package they were willing to give up, then when those talks stalled, he swooped in, convinced them Miller was just slightly less value than Fernandez, trimmed some of the deal and took a big part of the package. Once the D-Backs had talked themselves into giving up those players for a pitcher, it was easier to convince them to give up some of it for Miller.

That's the way I think it played out. Regardless, it was a massive boost to our prospects for competing in 2018.

I'd say Miami's "sky-high" asking price for Jose Fernandez helped us A LOT in pulling off that return. MLBTR reported: "The Marlins “discussed a deal” with Arizona that would have brought back Corbin, Swanson, Inciarte, Blair, and infielder Brandon Drury, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald writes. That deal only “collapsed” when Arizona struck its trade with the Braves, he says, and the talks could illustrate a real willingness to trade Fernandez."

I was thinking the same thing. But then last night Swanson did face underwood and he is highly rated.

Ok, I don't think he's gotten to where he is by not listening to coaches. I'm sure he's listened to a lot of his coaches, and I doubt his college hitting coach is better than anyone the Braves have in their system.
