Aybar is legitimately the worst player I've seen in so long. Dude is worse than BJ. The money changes it, but we need to stop playing him

Enjoy d'Arnaud while he is hot, and send him back down for Jace and/or Garcia when he cools off. Most of those guys are placeholders for Swanson and Albies anyway. Just keep the best two as utility guys. Beckham, Castro, and Jace are all better long term options, and there is not room for all of them.

d'Arnaud and Brignac are just hanging out for awhile.

Perez is looking overpowering. He's painting the corners with with 94 mph with movement. His off speed stuff looks filthy.

What do you think about this possible lineup for a while:

1. d'Arnaud
2. Mallex
3. Beckham
4. Freddie
5. Neckster
6. Flowers
7. Ender
8. Castro - SS

So far, Snitker's decisions on when to pull the pitcher have turned out pretty well. Even if we don't always understand them, they have turned out to be right most of the time.

Amazing. Braves play like a decent major league team and Snit pushes all the right buttons, but we get all orf two pages of commentary on a day game. Did ya'll not get the memo about the starting time?

This is now three dominant starts from Perez in a two-week period (including Gwinnett) and a much more assured looking bullpen with Krol finding himself. Thank goodness this isn't just a fatalist's message board.

Huh.

I'm not that surprised by our record. But the fact that the Phils are over .500 is astounding. Our line-up is weak, but their line-up looks to actually be worse. It all evens out over time and we'll probably steal one here and there to push our record up a bit, but I don't see how this Phillies' team stays above .500 much longer.

I didn't recall the early time so I am watching the game on replay via my MLB.TV account. Further, just looking at the play by play it looks like Snit took Perez out at the perfect time as his sinker which had been closer to mid-90's and topping out at 96 mph fell down to mostly 88 mph sinkers his last batter or two. So Perez seemed to be tiring at that point. Good job by Snit taking him out at the right time there.

That said, I haven't seen much of the game on replay yet but just reading and what I've seen so far leads me to believe he had a great game.

I think the weather along with the long top of the seventh and the delay including a challenge after Franco got knocked down probably had an effect on Baby Harang's ability to stay loose and maintain his velocity. So it was the right move to take him out even with the low pitch count.

Yeah, I thought it was a good move by Snitker. Williams seemed uncomfortable out there. Another thing I noticed is the velocity drop-off. He hit 95 early and then was into the high 80s at times late with the sinker. Makes me think Williams could be effective down the line as a max-effort reliever with a great combo of velocity and movement on that sinker.

Yea, Williams like Norris might be able to have a higher max velocity and average out of the pen.

I'd give him 10-20 starts this year and then evaluate. I think he has a chance to a solid ML starter.

Just wait for him to evolve from Baby to Harang 2.0

Just wait for him to evolve from Baby to Harang 2.0 I'm a fan! I'd like to see more before I make a concise judgement, but he has good movement, changes velocity well, solid location and enough "good" pitches to be successful at this level.

Definitely pulling for Williams. I'm also unreasonably excited to see Casey Kelly pull a rabbit out of a hat tomorrow. My biggest concern with Williams is that he has yet to consistently control the movement on his sinker. Good late movement on that pitch + the changeup is the secret to his success, but he seems to hit periods where his two-seamer is almost moving too much laterally and he has no idea where it's going. I fear that it will be a tough road for him as a starter if he can't lock down a reliable third pitch when that two-seamer deserts him.

I am fan. Thought he was going to turn into a pumpkin this year.. but he still has the magic. Now that he is hitting mid 90s with movement.. I consider him a viable piece of the rotation until he shows other wise. Now he needs to have a good outing against a team not named Phollies.

I thought it was simply a case of them finally playing defense. Not giving away outs or runs can have a remarkable effect on your state of mind.
